We've had solid staffs here before like the well documented Shanahan staff. All comes down to getting players.

It's not the X's and the O's, but the Jimmys and the Joes that make the difference.

The Commanders are hiring Darryl Tapp as their defensive line coach, a source confirmed.

Tapp played in Washington in 2013 and was the 49ers assistant DL coach the last three seasons.

Sources: #Commanders GM Adam Peters is hiring #Lions senior director of player personnel Lance Newmark as the new assistant GM. A long-time respected scout in Detroit, Newmark was instrumental in building the #Lions.

Newmark hopes to help remodel Washington in similar fashion.

Martin Mayhew and Marty Hurney are staying with the Washington Commanders, but with different roles, per source.

Mayhew is now the senior personnel executive and advisor to the GM.

Hurney is transitioning to an advisor role, supporting football operations.

Newmark sounds like an excellent get. Also, nice to hear the professional way the acquisition was handled. It can't be said enough how different this whole franchise is now that Snyder's out!

One reporter asked (paraphrasing) what they're looking for in players and he said he isn't gonna talk about that because that needs to stay in house.

Started off strong - emphasis on playing fast and hitting players. I thought it was a good listen.
