Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Writing a Motion with two other authors and two non-writing supervisors (same one as my last post). Conference call with all involved to discuss how to improve draft product.
Non-Author No.1: I think you should argue more facts. ME: The facts you want argued are irrelevant to the legal point the other side is making. NA1: Okay, well, perhaps you could just include them in the argument to highlight that they are irrelevant. ME: Umm, okay - I do that when I include the footnote saying "Since we concede the existence of a contract, the facts stated in paragraphs 10 - 44 of the complaint, alleging the existence of a contract, are irrelevant to whether or not the contract was breached." NA1: Yeah. Expand that. LATER SAME CALL: NA2: Well, I haven't read the cases, but that doesn't seem right. I mean, if the cases say what you say they say, okay. I'm just not sure they do. ME: I did read them and that's what they say - it's why I used quotation marks and cited to their facts. NA2: Yeah, but I'm not sure I agree with that. ME: Okay, but, unless there is a case I didn't find in my 10 hours of research on that specific, limited legal issue, it is what the current law on the matter is in Maryland. Do you know of a case that says something different? NA2: No, but I'm sure there is one. See if you can find it. ARRRRGHHHHHHHH

Seeing as tonight is the night everyone is celebrating Halloween...
When my friends drunk dial me. Drunk texts? Okay. But when you're drunk and you're calling me from a party and screaming at me through the phone because its so loud we can't hear each other? *click*

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
^ must have studied marketing at uc stalingrad.
what really chaps my ass is the fact that i've barely learned a damn thing since my mentor, the guy who brought me on for the 12 week internship, left the company. he seemed, to me, and to everyone else i've spoken w, to be the lone bright spot on this level of management. he was very hands on and a great teacher, i have to take it upon myself to advance my skills - it's hard when so much of the information is either outdated or simply unreliable. got some great contacts within who can help point me in the right direction, but i can't expect them to consistently take time out of their busy schedules. anyways, i'm chomping at the bit to be officially hired so i can dominate this department and begin my ascension. los panda rises

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Whenever any two women wear the same color to the office on the same day, it's because "they got the memo". Anyone not wearing the same color gets told "they didn't get the memo".
Every time.

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Every time.
I was walking in the office with my empty coffee mug in one hand and my Redskins water cup in the other. I was going to the kitchen to rinse my coffee mug out and fill my water cup. Some older lady asked me "Double-fisting today?" It caught me off guard because it really sounded like an off-color comment. Office small talk is always painful. You're lucky, Matty.

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Worse. Most days, I'm the only man in the office. This place is like 95% women.
Leading up to the election, there was no intelligent debate or discussion going on...they were just raging about what showed up on their Facebook page that morning. "I can't believe she wrote that! I wrote her back and said she better stop talking and she said that wasn't going to happen! I might just have to unfriend her!" ^Direct quotes I agree, people were posting stupid stuff online on both sides, but c'mon...can we act like adults just one day perhaps?

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Isn't that a man's dream? I guess not when they're all painfully awkward like that though.

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Oh God. Old awkward women.
I need to get my shit together now, I'm already awkward. I don't need to be old on top of that.

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Triffic. How the hell do you people in N VA. deal with that traffic everyday. I went to Reston Wed. for a Thursday meeting and the traffic going into Reston Wed. evening was not too bad but I left Reston around 4:45 yesterday. It was traffic as far as I could see and not moving. How the hell does 95 come to a stop when there are no traffic signals and no accidents? Someone told me yesterday was not bad compared to most days.
