The puzzling thing about Howell is he played exceptionally well during the first half of the season.....then he fell into bad habits and never grew afterwards......this is all on Eric Bieniemy.....Bienemy had Howell passing too much without pounding the rock to take pressure off of Howell.

He'll be a backup next year, and if we're lucky, he won't take any meaningful snaps during the season.

The only good thing about this season, is that ownership can move on from this regime and we have the #2 pick.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
So jamf do you judge every player fair? If you ask me for what we gave up for Chase or Allen they have both been underachieving.. we used 2nd overall pick for chase and got a 3rd in return .. Allen is part of the gigantic failure of the D and I think he gets traded .. so you think EB did a good job ? I think he was bad as our play caller ..just wondering how you rate the other players on this team ..

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
You know who will be /are backups?
Bryce Young Zach Wilson Trey Lance Mac Jones Kenny Pickett Daniel Jones Sam Darnold Josh Rosen (not in nfl) With someone like kyler Murray kind of skating by... Those precious first rounder over the last like 4-5 drafts and plenty in top 5. Sam has shown more this year under the shittiest conditions than that entire list. Enough with the 5th round there could be a list of qbs who outperform the 4th-7th rd draft status as well. No patience for this fan base. Dan rubbed off too hard on a lot of folks. Can't blame the lack of patience through all the misery and suffering but being less short sighted can be a positive thing in some cases. Heres to progress, the offseason and no more Dan!

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Meks I give you credit for being committed to him.
Statistically, Sam finished as the worst QB to start a full season. Brissett lead the NFL in passer rating. Seasons over, I’m thankful for Sam delivering us the 2nd overall pick. We couldn’t have done that with Brissett. I suspect Denver will pick up Howell after we cut him so they too can tank for a QB. |

Sam is the ex. You don’t keep them around. Ex thought to be franchise QB Ex team captain You don’t bring in a rookie QB and leave the ex just sitting there hoping to get another shot. If they draft a QB #2, they will have a veteran QB as backup. |

With that said the new GM won't look past Howell's struggles and may bring in veteran QB competition for the back up QB role.......Sam Howell hasn't earned the back up QB spot either .

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Howell is still good friends with Drake Maye, so if he is the pick then makes great sense to keep Sam around to ease his transition to the NFL
