Actually, Fred has been consistent in terms of pass catching and play-making WHEN on the field. If he's on the field, he'll produce. He looked even better this preseason too.
Of course, that's why Reed is here. Davis is only inconsistent in staying on the field, but if he's playing, he's one of the more dangerous TEs in the league. If they both stay healthy (and out of trouble), we're going to have an incredible duo at TE, perhaps the best in the league now that Gronkowski has lost his partner in crime forever.

Meriweather should play...so should Jermichael Finley.
Why didn't Doughty start last game? I did not understand Biggers at safety other than his speed advantage. Having a sure tackler like Doughty probably would have been a good thing against that Eagles offense.
