Re: Around the NFL Preseason week 3

After watching the Cardinals and Titans last night and having my Fantasy draft this Monday, the only guy you can possiblly consider taking in a fanatsy draft from the Cardinals is Fitzgerald and even then that scares me. The Cardnals may not win a game this year. Thier OL and QB play is dreadful.

To say he just happened to be there when ESPN started is akin to saying Matty just happened to be there when this website began. Berman's been as instrumental as anyone in building ESPN.

My feeling is similar to what many of his current and ex colleagues, unbelievable respect for what he's done and the paths he laid down for people like myself, but it's probably time for him to hang up the mic
Fair enough. My point was originally that i cant stand to listen to him. He grates on my nerves and he is just bad. That clip of him just didnt help my opinion. However i am sure the man is not a total d-bag. We all have our moments. So point taken and nice to know he is actually pretty nice. As for the being there in the beginning well i just meant that his position greatly out weighs his credentials. Im taking it that you work for espn or in the sports world. That is awesome.

Back in the day Berman was the man. He definitely helped put ESPN on the map.

That said he's overstayed his welcome. His act got tired a long time ago. Hearing him in the booth last night was just painful. Kolb to Fitzgerald, HELLOOOOOO. I'm like dude why are you yelling?

Like I said, I don't care for him on-air. Never have quite honestly. Disagree though that his position outweighs his credentials.

I can tolerate him doing NFL games, thought putting him on US Open Golf coverage was just abominable.

Anyway, to repeat (and echo what Matty's said), tremendous respect for what he's done, but time to move on. Bob Ley (the other original on-air guy still there), on the other hand can stay as long as he wants

I tend to believe Freeney trade rumors may be a bit more credible, but who knows

Thanks for the history dude. What you said about Berman on the personal level is what I would have guessed...just a good all-around dude. And to his credit, on the air I think he's trying to take more of a backseat to the other broadcasters but they don't always step up to it.
