I think his second year is going to be the true indicator. He's a new QB in a new offense in which nobody has game film on. As far as what he's done so far, I'd say it's very impressive to say the least. The guy still runs way too much at this point and it's eventually going to catch up with him. He took some shots yesterday he had no business taking as a QB.

I better Cam Newton jerseys will be flying off the shelf this Christmas, and rightly so, he has been impressive so far.

I liked the game plan, the execution just sucked in the 2nd half. Earlier in the week I was thinking they would blitz him a lot, but as Aikman said rookie qb's are more likely to run & he is dangerous. So, they played for coverage & made him make the right reads. He just so happened to do that most of the time.

I was just disappointed that in the 2nd half we didn't get any pressure w/the 4 or 5 man rush. Doherty blitzed a couple times off the edge but they picked it up easily.

A couple guys had their worst games IMO. Namely Landry & Rak. Rak was shut down for the most part, his sack was on a play he was unblocked. Landry didn't get off many blocks all game.

I hated the game plan. And I have not blamed coaching for anything since Shanny got here. That soft lay back defense is not the idenity they are building here. it took all the life out of them. How do you let a rookie dictate what kind of game your gonna call? He should have been blitzed on every other play so that he could never get comforatable back there. And frankly...the Redskins CB's are not good enough for the kind of game plan he tried to use. Without pressure and the ball coming out quick those guys are cooked...TERRIBLE job by Haslett.

We're going into week 8 now, I think it's safe to say there's some film out there on him.

Well. It's pretty much like Jim Zorn's offense. Started out great the first half of the season and then went to shit after defenses caught up with him. We'll see. He's been impressive, but it's entirely too soon to call him the real deal/bust quite yet. Without a doubt, he'll be rookie of the year with this showing.

All I meant was he's been the real deal so far. Of course you can't see into the future, but it appears his future is going to be really bright.

The Panthers being a home state team hold a special place in my heart. I hope they do well, and I hope Cam makes me eat crow.

Not taking anything away from Cam but it certainly helps when your receivers make one incredible catch after another...

Re: Mad props to Cam Newton

Tim Tebow isn't even close to Cam Newton in fact I'd take Cam over Luck for the next decade

Receiver...since Legedu Nanaee and Brandon LaFell sure aren't making "one incredible catch after another".

That receiver was the subject of trade rumors the year prior and had a very down season. Suddenly Newton comes in and now he is on a pace for a career high in yards and everything is rosy again.
