Would not shock me if we go 6-10 this year, but beat the Eagles twice.
I agree with you on those points, but we won't beat the Eagles any time if we can't stop Vick. He absolutely destroyed us in the 2nd game. They are beatable, but not if Vick can exploit every single opportunity against us like he did last year.

You just have to get pressure on him. When we played him at FedEx last year, the field conditions basically prevented us from getting close to him all game.

No pressure on a locked-in Vick and those receivers? Yeah, you'll be chasing 4 TDs at some point.

If we can contain Vick we will have a shot. But last year showed that's no sure thing. I think Haslett will definitely be more creative this time around. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Last year, again because of field conditions, we couldn't even tackle him in the open field.

But outside of that, I wouldn't worry about containing him. Just don't let him break the pocket to his left. If he wants to step up and run: fine. He's 31 years old. You pay your LBs for a reason.

Haslett makes good adjustments as games go along. He sometimes amplifies existing personnel issues by being hardheaded, but unlike Blache, if one of our division rivals came out and moved the ball on us in the first half, we generally had them figured out by the second half.

To clarify: the decision to start Kedric Golston after Week 6 was indefensible, and continued for seven games after that. Lost maybe multiple games because of a refusal to start our best players up front. But even in games we lost, we typically did better in the second half than first half. It's been years since that was the case here on defense.

There may be a deal in the works but I don't understand why they cannot keep all three guys. They are nowhere near over the cap... Gives then three man-coverage guys for when the offense puts three WRs on the field.

Not sure why keeping all three is impossible...

Why would they not keep all 3? Samuel as the 3 would be nasty

If they keep Samuel ($9 mil) and Nnamdi ($12 mil), that is $21 mil. or 1/6 of the cap just in two corners. Their linebacking needs work, their OL needs work, Desean is demanding $$$, etc. Having just two corners eat up 1/6 of the cap is problematic or more teams would do it.

I was just about to say that pretty much only one premier FA remains on defense, Cullen Jenkins.

Schefter just reported a second ago that they signed Cullen Jenkins for 5/25. Which changes the tenor of my post.

I'm not gonna say Grossman... I cant .. I won't...

But when we play the Eagles... BECK needs to work the middle and the slot.
Hopefully that Oline holds up n we run some drag routes and hope Nnamdi and Samuel get lost in they're coverage. Seeing they're both elite it will be a tough assignment for a first year starter but we got this! Cooley all day

The Eagles are definitely trying to exploit the win-now market inefficiency in talented thirty somethings on the FA market. Jenkins and Asomugha 2 of top 12 rated defensive free agents for me.

Jenkins is a big addition in that front. Instantly the second best player on the DL for them.

The flip side is: the Eagles aren't the young, talented team, they've always been in the past, which is a Howie Roseman effect. 25 and under prospects: DRC, Nate Allen, that one linebacker whose name escapes me, Brandon Graham, Jackson, Maclin all great talents, but this is an oldish team.

Re: Philadelphia Eagles Sign Nnamdi Asomugha

Their roster still isn't as talented as the Giants, Saints, or Packers, and I don't expect them to finish in front of any of those teams.

But the Eagles have "won" free agency. They entered with a roster about as good as the Cowboys. Now very clearly have relegated Dallas to third in division status with their moves the last three days.

I honestly think Cullen Jenkins is overrated. Not is the sense that hes a bad player or anything, but people have been acting like hes some elite DL, which i just dont think is true. Hes a slightly above average 30 year old 3-4 DE to me. Also doesnt Philly primarily play a 4-3??? Did that change?

Jenkins is better for the 4-3 than the 3-4. But he can do both more than adequately and still get after the passer.

The biggest concern with Jenkins is he's never been much of a high snaps/game guy. If you thought Haynesworth needed to come out of the game often, Jenkins doesn't play nearly as many snaps per game as that.

He's lethal when he's in the game though.
