Bowers DE
Dalton QB
Kaepernick QB
Austin DL
Hankerson WR
Ryan Williams RB
Sheard DE
I don't think we traded down to pick up an additional pick to take chance on the knee of a 4-3 DE in Bowers. You can scratch him off the list. We will take a quarterback in the 2nd round. Write that down.

We're all probably willing to concede it's early in the process and there are those still fuming from the blunder of the Donovan McNabb trade still fresh in their minds. However, giving credit it's due, the kind of strategic move deployed by the FO in last night's 1st round can be viewed as nothing less than a team builder.

Keeping our draft picks and drafting wisely is the simple doctrine that inspired me to introduce a thought provoking thread of the same name. We will know with a confident degree of certainty whether we're on course when in repeated succession we like the New England's of the world have our own plethora of draft picks come draft day.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan

I gave a B but could have easily given an A. I like the fact the team moved back in the draft to aquire more picks. I like the fact that he said he was invited April 13th and 14th and left hoping the Skins would pick him. Obviously if the player is happy we'll get better production.

I like the pick, we know we needed a pass rusher to compliment Orakpo and we needed more picks. I'm slightly disappointed we don't have Dalton and probably won't get him considering the Patriots are interested in him also and have the first pick today, but I also like Mallet at 6-6 and I like Kaepernick at 6-4.

I like what were doing vs. Simply taking BPA because we would have endedup with either the #1 DE which is still on the board and might not have been a good fit or the #1 LB still on the board.

Now we need a NT and a QB and OL.

Give it an A. I fully expected them to trade the draft pick away for some overpaid POS like they have done countless times in the past 10 plus years.

Seems like the "Mom and Dad " are home message may take shape.

Pass rush is good to have.

O-Line needs help next. QB can wait. Sexy Rexy will light 'em up this year!

Can't wait to see who they get next.

Kerrigan's best skill was the Redskins largest deficiency, getting after the passer. It was a bigger deficiency than our passing offense.

I'll agree I think we drastically need zone blocking OL help but lately I've sat back thinking we probably should take QB next if the team still sees someone on the board they liked or perhaps NT. Taking NT would hopefully fix our defensive woes, if the QB's they were interested in are gone then look to resolve the OL and maybe pick up a late round WR, CB, and RB.

How do you figure he'll have to lose weight? At 6'4" 267lbs, he's about the perfect size to play OLB in a 3-4. Otherwise, I agree with you 100%.

trust me, NT is a bigger need for us than QB. It goes DL, OL, then QB IMO

Who to block!?!?

London coming up the middle...these two coming from both ends...Landry on a safety blitz...it's a shame Haynesworth didn't come to play, our D could be unstoppable. Sack on every play.

I agree. Great job by the front office. Solid pass rusher with high character/high motor. My only concern is Kerrigan played end in a 4-3. They're going to ask him to play OL in a 3-4. That didn't work with Andre Carter so this concerns me. But can't complain too much about moving down and getting a 2nd rounder plus filling a need. That was a steal.

But it worked for Orakpo. The difference with Carter is that he was drafted and played as a 4-3 DE in the league. He didn't make a good transition in San Franscisco when they went 3-4, and the same thing happened here when we moved to the 3-4.

and that the team didn't plan on getting a true NT when they decided to switch to the 3-4 (even if he had a good attitude, I think Haynesworth is not an option). If we had a young player like Terrence Cody or an experience/healthy NT it would make a big difference.

Lot of talk radio is saying that! "Did we not just draft a younger Andre Carter?"
