I don't recall Judge Nelson telling them they can start the new year whenever they get around to it. I think I read where she says the new league year starts now, and this was yesterday.

From what I remember reading is that she said the NFL will have to deal with any consequences on how they proceed from this point. Maybe that's what he's referring to? If it is, the owners might be in some trouble because that's not even close to the same thing.

I wonder if they'd have modified 2006 CBA Rules? Although I think it would make more sense to do 2010 as much as they suck. If they go to 2006 rules, then players like Sidney Rice would be free for the taking. At the least I hope they can open up player trades so we can unload McNabb and (hopefully) Haynesworth (sh*t, I'll take a seventh rounder at this point).

Yeah I don't think the teams have to wait because she did say "immediately" however I think the owners want to take their complaint to the Eigth Circuit Court which I think the owners believe won't get settled by tonight. I also think the owners are in agreement not to make any free agency moves until after the Eigth Circuit decides, but officially teams can make moves and their hoping that no owner goes rogue and starts signing FA's.

Agree, I dont get the leagues last piece of that statement that says we getting something to together so we can agree with the league year starts...hasnt that been stated by the judge and the decision? From a legal standpoint, isnt free agency open and all facilities open? Why is this start date different from when players can go workout from when they become free agents if we past both those periods anyway?

How effing incompetent is the league and Goodell...how come he and the league wasnt ready for this ruling and had something prepared to go out immediately? Sloppy if you ask me

Armed guards and stacks of boxes preventing guys from working out? ...lolol What a dope.

These guys don't believe the law applies to them.

Ridiculous. I thought Bud Adams would just stand in the parking lot and shoot the bird to his players as they arrive. Having armed guards are insane.

Maybe we'll get that 3rd/4th round pick for McNabb after all?

Big news to me, if I understand it right, is that we can give players (including our draft picks) our playbooks right away. So our new QB can get started learning the playbook this weekend

Not only that (FA/trades), but simply allowing the players to work out, which is still something that isn't being done. That is a direct violation with what the judge ruled. It's like some of the owners are saying "we don't care how you ruled, we are billionaires and are above your judgment". The NFLPA should as the court to find the NFL in contempt.

I can see that old bastard riding around in a golf cart doing exactly that. Having some poor kid drive while he takes shots of Jack Daniels and heckles the players as they arrive.

I think that may be their plan, to come accross as sloppy and un-prepared that way they have a better chance of avoiding any consequences. They're hoping if they look like they're doing something and being responsible they wont get too many complaints. The truth is though that they've been extremely irresponsible in not being prepared for mondays ruiling, let alone not being prepared after yesterday. If someone (like Judge Nelson) calls their bluff though, they'll be in trouble.

So there will be no trades of players under contract today, although it’s at least theoretically possible that the league year could start tomorrow and players under contract could be traded tomorrow and the next day, during Rounds 2-7 of the draft.

Of course, all of this is moot if the appeals court ruling goes the way the NFL is hoping.

“If they issue that stay, these arrangements would change, obviously,” Aiello said.
Funny they address players under contract. They don't mention players who have been cut or are FA's. They mention players under contract and trades will not take place until Fri. at the earliest.

It's part of anti Eagles propoganda. The league know the Eags can sucker another team out of draft picks and with Kolb they can steal a first round pic.

- AJ Feely
- Donovan McNabb
- Kevin Kolb?

Buyer beware!
