Favre just needs some time to get on track. He clearly doesn't have a go to guy right now other than Shiancoe. Berrian blows, Harvin is clearly rusty. Perhaps Camarillo can step up? Still, he's no Rice.

I should have started him over Witten this week, kicking myself right now.

He's got some sick hands, he should be in for a big year as Favre really trusts him.

We can run two TE sets in my fantasy league I envision myself starting both him and Witten on some weeks.

Shiancoe could easily join the 1,000 yard Tight End club this year. Hopefully Cooley joins as well but I'll be happy if he shows up with his usual 800 yard performance.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

The only problem I see with Shiancoe/Farve is that, right now, Farve isn't going anywhere else and, while he has great hands, he was basically taken out of the game in the 2nd half by one player. NO's Harper (a linebacker, I think) shadowed him, took him out of the game AND Minn (even w/ AP) wasn't able to exploit this.

If teams can take out Shiancoe with one player AND Minn can't force them to focus on something else, Shiancoe just isn't the type of playmaker to make plays regardless (like a Gonzalez or Gates in their prime). Until Minn gets some other receiveing options working (come on P. Harvin! (have him in both my FF leagues)), Shiancoe is going to be somewhat limited.

I am sure other teams watched the game tape and saw what happened was NO took Shiancoe out of the game. Until Minn stops that, I wouldn't bank too heavily on VS. Once Rice comes back or Farve/Harvin start clicking, then VS could really explode.

I love what Ray Lewis said about the JETS! I'm so damn tired of hearing about that team..

You mean how the Jets are just how the Ravens were a few seasons ago minus the Super Bowl predictions?

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

I actually think MIN will struggle to get to 9 wins this year.

Favre should have packed up the diesel, and gone on a fishing trip or something. When he really starts getting pummeled this season, I doubt he can finish it off.

He'll be gone by week 12. Too easy to mess that ankle up again.

I think if he plays a tough defense that does a good job getting to the QB, he'll go down. While NO has a good defense, they are not considered a defensive team like the Steelers, Ravens or Jets; yet still the few times they hit him made a difference on his play.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

Glad I benched Meacham on both teams I own him.

Hartley scored -3 points for me on the team I started him on...scoring punishes missed FGs in that league.

I would have been better off starting Suisham...even if he didn't play, I'd be 3 points better.

Roman Harper is a safety.

Re: NFL regular season thread (week 1)

I expect the hits to take their toll on Favre over the course of the season; they can only dope that ankle up but so much. I think the Vikes will be good this year, but I think the absence of Chester Taylor could end up being their biggest lost of the year. He was really good coming out of the backfield last year and giving AP much needed breathers.
