Just yesterday I was looking over all the QB's we've drafted by round since 1994.

1994 - Heath Shuler 1st --Gus Frerotte 7th
2000 - Tod Husak 6th
2001 - Sage Rosenfels 4th
2002 - Patrick Ramsey 1st
2003 - Gibran Hamdan 7th
2005 - Jason Campbell 1st
2007 - Jordan Palmer 6th
2008 - Colt Brennan 6th
2009 - Chase Daniel--Not drafted but signed as an UDFA

Considering the production we got (or didn't get) from these QB's, one can't help but wonder how much farther along we would be had we drafted a position player (other than QB) at more than one of these draft positions. I agree if it's determined Brennan can't play at the NFL level he shouldn't be on the team.

Lets get it right this time guys, look at the Rypien years he was a so so QB with an awesome O line and we won big. If we take a QB in the first round we are making a terrible mistake. Good O line and JC will wreak havoc on other teams.

Conventional wisdom suggests and has guided the thought process of many, that in order to reach the pinacle of success, a team needs to draft a QB in the top ten.

QB's like Mark Rypien and Tom Brady both drafted in the 6th round are players who have debunked the myth that you have to draft that ever elusive (so called) franchise QB. at the top of the draft to have a very successful QB in your employ. Their play has demonstrated that a QB needs only to be effecient to win. However, it is also widely believed that in order to win consistently on a sustained basis, the search for a high profile talent is a must.

The drafting of a FQB is totaly contradictory unto itself because they aren't drafted, they are made. A FQB is IMO, one who can walk into any huddle in the NFL pick up the football and have imediate success. By saying that, these type QB's are not defined by the system they paly in because you don't have to build a system around them for them to be effective. They do it because they can make any throw in any offense and succeed with any coach and with any type of offensive personnel around them. The performances of Brett Favre the last two seasons are perfect examples of what I'm referring too.

No Collegiate QB can bring that to the table, the best they can bring is the potential to be that, but the title of FQB will elude them until they demonstrate they can perform to the level of what the title demands. Hence the argument of what and not who is considered a FQB.

A good offensive line is also vital to the success of any QB. We need to look no further than our own Jason Campbell as a testament to that.

well, I see campbell for one more year, with Pike carrying the clipboard, and then taking the reigns in season 2 after we have 2 offseasons and good drafts to solidify our OLINE

Zorn hired by Ravens as QB coach, according to Mortensen's twitter account.

So unfair. Jason Campbell had to wait 4 years to do the "coach throws tackling dummies at me while I try to pass drill." Joe Flacco only has to wait till his third year.

Oh man, how are we going to win football games now without the slip n slide? This is so unfair. The Ravens are now loaded with Performance Enhancing Fun.

The Skins won big one year with Ryp at QB because that year he tore it up he was an unbelievably accurate passer. His other years he still had a nice O line but couldnt hit the broad side of a barn and the Skins didnt win. So far JC has shown he's not an accurate passer and no O line can fix that.

Why do I feel like If we keep Campbell and draft a 1st round QB, Campbell will do great. But if we keep campbell and don't get a high draft pick QB he'll do awful this upcoming year.

you can only be so good as a 3rd stringer, we don't need starter quality there

I mean there are some guys we could've picked differently but so many of those are late round picks, never know what you might get there. You have to get a QB eventually.. you can always wait to start him until the current guy sucks it up or the line is meshed well
