Trust me, I'm not crowning anything. I just pointing out that he's been much more productive than Lloyd.

I do agree that he had a better QB and system, but you can't blame him for taking advantage of that opportunity. Lloyd hasn't been able to do that.

I think the thing that separates Lloyd from Caldwell is that Caldwell doesn't have much talent and Lloyd has plenty, but Caldwell tries hard and Lloyd usually doesn't.

We have too much invested in Lloyd to throw him out the window when we are short on receivers

I honestly don't consider that short on receivers. Especially if we can Moss and Cooley more involved.

Wait, why again is Lloyd more talented than Caldwell.

Caldwell was a second round choice out of Florida. Lloyd was a 4th rounder out of the powerhouse that is the University of Illinois.

Caldwell is not only more talented than Lloyd, but is also sharper mentally, and a harder worker. Give him 3-4 weeks and he will have put him away on the depth chart.

For people who think that the one elite receiver, one elite TE approach is not enough in terms of offensive weapons, I ask you to keep a close eye on the Houston Texans' offense this year. Their No. 2 is Kevin Walter, who very generously can be called identical in skill to Randle El. I bet we will finish ranked very similar to the Texans offense at the end of the year, somewhere between 10-15.

Re: JLC: Redskins Sign WR Reche Caldwell

Joe Bugel was very indignant about the effort of Lloyd on the interception, before and after the pick. I can understand his reaction.

Lloyd does have talent, but talent is only one part of making a player. I don't have hard feelings towards Lloyd. I just think that it would be better for the team if he be the last receiver, and then be released at the end of the season, to minimize cap repercussions. I don't think there is any point in getting critical, as fans, of Lloyd. Not every player you bring in works out. I do think it's time to move on and replace him in the lineup.

Lloyd looked good with his talent and his personality can be charming. No doubt the team felt he could be made into a top flight receiver if he came to Washington, with a much more mature coaching staff than he had in SF. Any sort of the personality conflicts he had in SF they probably felt they could handle in DC and keep him focused.

However, Lloyd wasn't prepared for the bright lights of big city Washington. Football is a much bigger part of the community in DC than in SF. The pressure was high. It was a lot to ask of Lloyd to come in and be the number two receiver. The offense was entirely new last year, and expectations were very high. Brunell was at the end as a starter and there was too much change all around for Lloyd to deal with. His attitude got negative.

He seemed to be ready to go for this season after training in Arizona with Springs' trainer. However, I don't think he has clicked with the team, as his effort on the interception implies. He doesn't, from my vantage point, (which might be wrong), have the "one for all and all for one" spirit. I think he is becoming a distraction.

So Reche Caldwell has been signed, and I think this means that the Redskins' experiment with Lloyd is largely over.

Lloyd may be able to move to another team and get on track. I'm not critical of him myself, I think its just time to let others play who fit the mold of a "Redskins type of player." I'm not clear that Lloyd fits that mold, and I think that is essential if you are going to succeed here.

If he can turn it around and show otherwise, all power to him.

They should have taken Kelvin Kight...trust me. A no name but a better receiver

Where is Caldwell? The "reports" said he'd be our #3, and he's no where to be found.
