Re: Brunell Reworks Deal (FKA "Brunell Reluctant to Renegotiate Deal")
Too all you Brunell haters.
Maybe from now on you will learn to wait for the facts, or at least both sides of the store before you go and shoot your mouth off.

Re: Brunell Reworks Deal (FKA "Brunell Reluctant to Renegotiate Deal")
I just read this quote from Gibbs that said "That Mark[Burnell] and others team members are working cooperatively with us in renegotiations, Approching the matter like the veterans and team leaders that they are. We will get throught this". Sounds like a man with a plan!

This is a great move by Mark. I will retract the negative statements I made. I was more upset that he wasn't getting the same sh*t that other players get when they are percieved as selfish, but whatever. I'm glad he did this and I commend him for helping out the team.

Makes no sense to me. This is up-front cash. If he gets cut next year, he keeps the damned money. There must be more to it than just a simple conversion.

Re: Brunell Reworks Deal (FKA "Brunell Reluctant to Renegotiate Deal")
I'm tempted to start a new thread so this news doesn't get lost in the shuffle, but according to profootballtalk.com (I know, take it with a grain of salt) CP's contract has been restructured as well:
"At a time when the Washington Redskins are facing a potential salary purge that, by some estimates, could leave them with roughly 25 veterans under contract, we're told that the team has restructured the deal of running back Clinton Portis in order to create some cap room. Specifically, a sizeable roster bonus owed to Portis has been converted to a guaranteed payment, which spreads the total value of the money over four years. Portis' contract expressly authorized the team to make the move."

Re: Brunell Reworks Deal (FKA "Brunell Reluctant to Renegotiate Deal")
Portis has a $3 million dollar bonus this year. But I didn't think the bonus could be spread out over 4 years. I'm probably wrong.
Other guys scheduled to get big bonuses are: Arrington ($6.4M), Samuels ($4.5), Springs ($3.1), Griffin ($2.5), S. Taylor ($2.2), and Rabach ($2.2). |
