Lets hope we can can a good free safety and corner back either in free agency or the draft.

Jairus Byrd and Dashon Goldson come to mind.

Do you mean draft him as in we should have done it last year when he came out..

Or do you mean sign him as an UDFA since thats what he is..

He came out last year? I didn't know that....and he was undrafted? Hard to believe.

Redskins.com | Players

I see we have listed Merriweather as a "FS" now. That is a change from last year. Please God tell me that isnt the plan at free safety.

I see the new guys, the Predator and Rambo, are both listed as SS...

I know its early, but B Merriweather coming off a major knee injury starting at Free Safety is not good. Im hoping T Jax is gonna join us and be the starter at FS.

Or is the free safety not on the roster yet?

Its never too early to freakout...who our Free Safety starter?

Re: Secondary is a Primary

My projected starters:

CB Wilson
CB Amerson
SS Meriweather
FS Thomas Week 1, Rambo will take spot mid-season

Nickel CB - Hall

If Meriweather is a no-go...Thomas starts at SS and Rambo at FS.

If I had to guess, Thomas or Rambo. I know what they are listed as now but I feel they both will start this season. Rambo is more comfortable as the single high and Thomas is better around the line of scrimmage.

I wouldn't worry about position assignments this early.

This is where I would lean, but is T Jax on the team?

I think:
CB Wilson
CB Biggers
Nickle: D Hall
FS Thomas
SS Merriweather

Yeah we have to wait until his suspension is over before we do anything with him. Like cut him. I don't see how he comes in late August and wins a starting spot.

Thomas is our best press guy. Don't be surprised if hes our nickel back.. DHall is not suited for nickel.. He wont be playing there this season... Don't understand why people keep slotting him in there.

In the article that Matty posted about Meriweather's return to health, Shanahan describes Meriweather as a strong safety. So I wouldn't worry about a mistaken online depth chart.

Jackson still has to be reinstated by the league, so technically he's on the team but not active and that's up to Goodell. He's had many violations, so it's not a clear 4, 8 or 16-game suspension, it's up to the Commissioner when it's over. I'm not counting on him. I'd rather roll with the rookies.

Biggers as a starter...surprising. I actually forgot about him.

Man, we have SO much depth in the secondary now!

Cornerback
Josh Wilson
DeAngelo Hall
David Amerson
EJ Biggers
Richard Crawford
Chase Minnifield
Jerome Murphy
Devin Holland
Korey Lindsey

Safety
Brandon Meriweather
Phillip Thomas
Bacarri Rambo
Tanard Jackson (maybe)
Jordan Bernstein
Reed Doughty
DeJon Gomes
Jordan Pugh
