I'm really not a fan of Sanchez at all. But perhaps a change of scenery would do him good, and he's not as bad as some people make him out to be. But he's far from being an elite franchise QB too. I'd really have mixed feelings if we got him. I guess a lot would depend on what it would take to get him. Can we at least draft a guy to develop too??

Dont want Sanchez at all as the long term answer. If he were to replace Rex as the stop gap until our rookie is ready then fine but i don't believe think he is a franchise QB.

The only veteran QB that could possibly become available that I would accept as a long term answer is Bradford.

Sanchez and Bradford are within a year of each other in age, and if you throw Colt McCoy into that group, I think there's a pretty good chance that at least one of them becomes a solid starting quarterback (and I wouldn't be shocked if that guy is Sanchez).

I think it's very clear and obvious that McCoy is the best of the three, but you're still talking about three very limited pro quarterbacks. If you want a quarterback who might actually be able to lead us instead of leading him, I'd grab RG3 or Foles if possible. If not, I would try free agency. There's a pretty good class out there.

Mostly, this rumor seems well-intentioned, but more like the Redskins are just looking in the wrong place for a quarterback. I mean, we just tried the "buy low, unproven" route and got Grossman and Beck. I'd rather target someone with more upside than Sanchez/McCoy/Bradford.

I do NOT want Mark Sanchez. This is what he's doing with Good WR's and a Great OL. Imagine him on our team...NO Thanks! If that we're the case, then yeah I actually may want Tannehill...
Sanchez has a good running game and good wrs and still sucks. I don't want him no where near this team.

GTripp, who has more upside than Colt, Sanchez, Bradford - Luck or RG3? We ain't getting neither my friend.

I think Bradford is the best of the three.

I'd say Bradford is probably the worst of those three. My whole thing with Bradford is that he seems to be getting held to a different standard. "He was really awesome in college in 2008" wouldn't fly as a defense for any other quarterback, but it's really where all the belief in Bradford is coming from.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't toss a fifth round pick for a 25 year old QB and try to ressurect his career, but Sam Bradford isn't showing up anywhere in Week 1 next year as a premier player. He's a project. He's young enough, but must be torn down and rebuilt back into the player he was in college. It can be done, but not quickly enough here to save Mike Shanahan's job. Bradford will not be here because of that.

Mark Sanchez isn't that far away from being a mid-level quality starter, but you know, neither is Rex Grossman. Sanchez is much younger, but we've put two (or three with Kyle) years into Rex Grossman. I'm not sure you'd give that up for a much younger version of Rex Grossman.

I still like Colt McCoy's upside. He was really effective as a vertical passer in 2010. He hasn't been good at it this year. I think getting McCoy out of the west coast offense could actually save his career. So I like his upside best of the three. Again, if you're giving up more than a fifth round pick, you're doing it wrong.

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...

I agree with the few that are tired of the team picking up other teams trash. But.... I was one of the fans who didn't think Sanchez would pan out and he actually supprised me with how well he did with the Jets. Plus he's young still. My only concern is the Jets don't seem to be getting better each year and that could be any number of problems. Mostly probably injuries.

My concern is why can't the Skins ever pick up a young QB in the draft and develope him into a champion? I'd prefer someone who could be molded into the Skins scheme vs. having to re-train a QB and having to hear how the coaching staff has to get rid of bad habits (ie; McNabbs footwork).

When I think of P.Manning and a possible trade I cringe but again if we were to get him cheap from Indy and draft a QB who could learn under P.Manning would be awesome. I'd also expect the team to find a way to utilize his crazy play calls and crazy changing of play calls. That alone would be worth it's weight in gold. When we are ready to make a change to a younger QB, hopefully after a SB, then we could offer a coaching job to P.Manning in order to keep his skills with the team.

This is not my worst nightmare, but it's on the list. Since I did not see McNabb's name in the thread, I can safely say that I prefer every QB mentioned in this thread ahead of Sanchez. New York papers have been running stories about how Sanchez has regressed this season and how Jets need to start over at QB position. Please do not encourage talk of Redskins becoming the Jets "dumping ground" for an over-hyped and over-valued QB.

For some reason I thought he has done well in years past taking the team to the play offs, but this year I thought there were a few injuries to their WR's and they had to go with older vets for some reason. Also Sanchez I don't think is being used as he has in the past. I thought he scrambled more in past years which made him a threat as well to run the ball and this year I just haven't seen him running as much. No don't go off showing me stats ... I'm just saying I don't recall seeing him running as much as he has in the past.

I'm not a P.Manning fan, but I'll admit he's really good at confusing the defense. Something that would be invaluable to the Skins, possibly lead the team to a SB, and hopefully Manning would know he's to help develope our young QB for the future with an understanding we would want to retain him for a coaching job. I'd have to imagine he would be interested in becoming a coach down the road when he can't play anymore. Heck I'd hire him to be a coach now.

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...

Both Bradford and McCoy have major issues holding onto the ball while in the pocket, but if I had to choose one over the other and put him behind the Redskins offensive line, it would be Sam Bradford.

Colt McCoy is 6'1" and Sam Bradford is 6'4", that would be a huge difference playing in the NFC East where you'd face some of the more prolific pass rushers twice a year. Rex at 6'1" has also had his share of batted down passes playing in the NFC East And if I'm not mistaken, McNabb at 6'2" had some issues with getting balls batted down during his time here.

Looking at their respective stat lines over the first two years, the amount of time they've turned the ball over, their QB rating are nearly the same, both play for horrible teams, it's just really difficult to say who's definitively a "project" and who isn't. So I'd go with the guy more physically promising, a year younger, and has shown some flashes of being a quality NFL quarterback.

I'd like to think some of what your concerned about could be fixed with better protection and giving the QB room to move around the pocket or rolling him out.

You know, that's a really good argument. I'd still go McCoy, but this is very well stated 12th.
