McNabb at age 34, is likely to decline severely in the next few years. I mean, look at Jake Delhomme. At age 33, that guy was coming off of UCL surgery and posting record numbers on the 2008 Panthers. In 2009, he melted down. No one would have predicted that Delhomme was going to get so bad so fast, but a lot of people figured that the $20 million guaranteed extension for his performance was preposterous at the time. I would like this move as a one year move a lot better than I woudl like it for the future seasons, but with Campbell already under contract, it's a moot point. McNabb isn't coming here on a one year basis, and anything more than that would be typically foolish.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
I don't believe the team shouldn't be able to compete in 2010 but:
1) We're not one player away, we need multiple quality additions to make the leap. 2) McNabb isn't a difference maker, and he never really has been. This is really the end of story. This team needs a difference maker, and it should look to use the 37th pick on someone who can assist us, not to make McNabb and the Eagles happy. 3) The last thing we should be doing is considering giving our rivals a proven insurance policy quarterback if Kolb goes out there and wets the bed. It's in our best interest for McNabb to go to Oakland and Kolb to sink or swim as Eagles starter. It's for this reason that, even if we could get McNabb for Campbell straight up (a good trade if not with the Eagles), we're only hurting ourselves by doing it.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
I would take a 3rd rounder for JC and then give up a second for McNabb . And still use the 1st and 3rd round picks on a tackle and a guard.

Mcnabb has never been a difference maker? You had me until point 2, I think you missed the boat on that one.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
McNabb couldn't get the job done with a stellar WR corp this past season and he was behind a pretty good O line also. Shanny needs to build HIS team with fresh young faces. If we do acquire McNabb, with the FA RB acquisitions we have just completed, I am going to really wonder if things in DC really have changed much at all. THank God the Parker deal is only for one year. THat tells me RB in the draft will be priority #1 in 2011.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
What differences would you change that are attributable to something McNabb did?

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
The only reason I would like to see Mcnabb here is the fear that no matter who else we pick up, they will just ride the bench as I watch JC throw it all away again.
Mcnabb would not agree unless he was a guaranteed starter. And I would feel more confident with him at QB. Some will argue that Shanahan has no invested interest in JC... But Snyder might. Thats what worries me. I hope Im wrong. |

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
McNabb is definitely a top notch QB, but I don't think you give up a second rounder for him at this point in his career. It would be the same difference as where we were with Mark Brunell a couple of years ago. And while I was a Brunell apologist, I feel Campbell and maybe even...*gulp* Grossman (can't believe I just said that but anyways) are both good enough stop gaps to lead this team until we can draft a top notch QB, either in this draft of next season. This team is trying to get younger, not older. While McNabb probably could come in and make the 'skins an immediate playoff contender, how much of the future are you giving up for him? And how long, realistically is he going to play for us?
I say we keep focused on rebuilding the offensive and defensive lines, our offensive backfield (which looks like we've done a good job with that) and our defensive secondary. No denying we need a top notch QB, but I just don't believe a deal with McNabb is the way to go. With that said, look for the McNabb to be signed by five o'clock tomorrow evening..lol!

I think the Packers DC (Donahue) who called that defense is equally available, not coincidentally.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
Kurt Warner was 36 when his career got back on track. In this day and age of modern medicine more QB's will last until they're 40. Peyton Manning will obliterate Farves streak one day. Heck even Chris Chelios is playing and getting DUI's at damn near 50.

Re: Mcnabb to Washington?
The team needs to now get a LT, a 3rd down receiving back, and we are on our way to the playoffs. Brandon Marshall would look really good right now also.
