Re: New coaches who?
On NBC's Football Night in America, Dan Patrick, Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison were discussed the Redskins problems. Here is what they had to say.
Harrison: "It's many problems dealing with the Washington Redskins. One problem in particular is Jason Campbell, the quarterback. I don't know what they see in this guy. To me, he's a backup quarterback that's been elevated to a starter. He's a guy that's unpredictable. He's inconsistent. He's not a guy that defensive players look at and fear." Dungy: "I wouldn't blame it all on the quarterback. He threw for a lot of yards today. They're having trouble scoring. I think it goes to a bigger thing, maybe an organizational thing. It's always new free agents, new players, all-star guys. They need to build a team concept there." Patrick: "It seems like Daniel Snyder treats it like it's a fantasy league team. You bring in [Albert] Haynesworth. They were trying to get Sanchez. They're always looking for something different. There's no core there." Dungy: "It's not always getting the best players. It's building a good team, building a team that everyone has confidence in, and, right now, they don't have confidence." I think Dungy knows exactly what's wrong with the Skins. The Skins need to rebuild from Vinny on down. Unfortunately, until they make that type of commitment, they will not be able to retain a quality coach like Dungy, Cowher or Gruden.

Re: New coaches who?
There was a time when I wasn't buying the idea that the Skins needed a GM or that Vinny was the problem. But what I'm starting to see is, even if he isn't, most successful football minded people just won't come here. They see it after a few interviews. So I see no way possible that another coach or drafting good players are the solution. We can't attract the type of leadership it takes to establish a winning culture. The environment is toxic. Coaches can't coach and players aren't motivated. And I think that's what Dan Snyder has been missing.
We'll win some games here and there, but unless Snyder stops tinkering along the margins I don't see a Lombardi coming here for a good while. But hey, it's his team. Last edited by 12thMan; 09-28-2009 at 12:04 PM. |

I don't think Cameron is a head coach. He is a good OC that is as much pressure as I would put on the guy. And as far as him being a good guy to work with QBs we def don;t want another coach who is HC OC and QB caoch one to many hats for one guy. Proof is in the pudding we have here currently.

Re: New coaches who?
Yeah we all need to wake up to the fact. That it can;t be done the way it is being done now. Vinny and Danny need a divorce. Dan needs to bring in football guys and leave the team alone. Dan should be worrying about how he is going to make more money not how he can come in and effect the football team.
NO self repsecting good coach will come here to coach under the current management structure. Until this fundamental changes inside the organization we are truly doomed.

Re: New coaches who?
Yup. The other arguments: it's Zorn, it's Campbell, it's Blache, it's this and that. Totally irrelevant. The guy, whomever that is, we need to take us to the promise land just doesn't want the job.

Re: New coaches who?
Bill Cowher is not the answer. Without the culture that exists in Pittsburgh, I would be surprised if he was capable of winning more than 6 games a year. His replacement was more successful, more quickly than he was. Besides, Cowher won't be able to help the offense. And he wouldn't have Dick LeBeau, who we all know was and is the real genius behind Pittsburgh's success.

Re: Russ Grimm, I would be surprised if he ever agreed to work for Dan Snyder and uny circumstances. Ditto Tony Dungy. Good people don't want any part of Snyder, because he's not a good person. Even if he promised to make himself scarce, would anyone believe him?

Even Barry Switzer won a SB with someone else's team and ppl thought it was HIS coaching that did it. They found out later that it wasnt.

Re: New coaches who?
If Zorn is fired during the season look for Shanahan who can step in and call the plays and be the HC. After the season id like to see Cowher and a new GM. My 2

Re: New coaches who?
Actually it was far from domination. The Skins held them to two field goals in the second half. Both teams scored a TD without their offense. Their overall stats were probably better, but when I say we took them to the wire, I mean it was a one score game, not to mention in their house. Just because the Skins scored in the last two minutes doesn't mean it was a garbage touchdown. Unless you think the G-men just let them score. That doesn't happen in this division in a close game like that.

Yeah the Giants hardly dominated, they were definitely not at their best that day.
