I think we have one in Armstrong (and they are paying him as a starter). Probably not a superstar but maybe a good one (if we are lucky).

that's cool, but the coaches have said otherwise. one's making $11m/year and the other DQ said was expected to start. so... *shrug*

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

Top four players at position of need. In order that the Redskins should take with 1st pick.
Cooper Dejeon - CB
Kool-Aid McKinsley - CB
Ja'Tavion Sanders - TE
Ladd McKonkey - WR
or maybe
Junior Colson -LB to develop as a future middle LB.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

I still say we need a DE, and also a CB, OT is over, we missed the boat completely. Yeah they could draft a project, but at this point the best they could do is a backup swing tackle, especially with the crappy Oline coach we have. Really pissed. But I do love our QB! Too bad he is going to run for his life like our last young qb

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

No way we draft a wr next, we need a starter for the two 2nd rounders and OT is out. That leaves CB and DE

Value is at CB and WR. Next tier of edge players that are available are about the same value as the next tier of OTs. I'd go with OT prior to edge. I think best option would be to take a CB and then trade down with the next pick (maybe even trade out completely for a future 1st if there are any takers.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

Why on earth would anyone trade a 2nd for nex years first? There are no stars, no QBs, acquiring more picks is just a pipe dream the way it played out. I mean, I'd love it, but u need a partner, I see the point about wr value, but we can do that in the third as we is loaded and it is for our 3rd spot. We have actual starter roles that are open that we need to nail. It is possible with a 2nd rounder. We just have to pick very wisely. The strategy now should be likelihood to start for round 2. Round 3 is developing starters next year like ilb and the where we have vet placeholders

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

I really am soooo pissed we didn't act when we could to get a potential LT. At this point, I would consider trading a 2 or 3 for someone's backup LT

I mean, like you said: "u need a partner".

Trading back into the 1st round was always fan fantasy.

We got our QB, and have five more picks to work with tomorrow. Still many really good players and NFL starters left to be had. Not a lot to be mad about in my opinion.

Very concerned about the o-line, for another year. With a small.. run very close first....

rookie qb.

Not ideal.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

I would expect Cooper DeJean or Kool Aid with next pick. Maybe Keon Coleman or Junior Colson at 40.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

Thing is, OT are always overdrafted, especially when there is a danger of a run on the position. If they wait for value at OT they wont get one. In a perfect world they could take DeJean at 36 and trade down from 40 to select Suamaetiea (?) or Paul in the 50s. But they will probably have to take one of them at 40. They will likely also need to take one of Fischer/Rosegarten/ Amegadjie/Wallace high in the third. If you ascribe to the more picks is more chances philosophy, which is not neessarily wrong, then you need to draft multiple OT in the hope at least one will turn out to be a decent starter.
You never want to go into a draft desperate for an OT.

Re: Commanders 2024 NFL Draft Thread

I trust Peters - assuming we take a tackle at some point (to develop) I think he will make the necessary moves to bring in someone he trusts to hold it down for the next year at least.

I also think there's a huge disconnect from the way teams operate and the way fans think. Every year I see a lot of "we need to take OT/CB/etc with the next pick because it's such a huge need" but what if all the tackles available at our next pick have lower round grades on them? Teams operate by going off their draft board, if you can get a player with a first round value in the 2nd you take them. There is room for an upgrade everywhere on this roster so I'm not concerned about taking a player at a position we already have an established starter.

So they won't get one. It would be stupid to draft a player that can't contribute over a player that could.
