Redskins @ Bucs- Lets break it down

Ok it's WED, time to move on from the Bengals game and look ahead to Tampa. The bucs come in ranked 32nd in total offense and averaging 20 points per game. On defense they aren't much better (26th overall).

Josh Freeman - 71 QB Rating 4 tds 3 Ints. 491 yards passing.

On paper the Redskins are the better team, skins ranked 1st overall in scoring
33 PPG and 6th in total offense. The defense as we all know is horrific but this is the worst offense we will have seen yet.

I think if Trent Williams and Pierre Garcon are able to play the skins will win this game on offense alone.

Thoughts?

The offense needs to establish the run or it might be a long day.

The defense needs to beat up on Freeman as if he were a piñata.

I don't think Vincent Jackson has been tearing it up, nor is he another AJ Green; but I don't want to see him get 10/15 yd cushions or lined up one-on-one with a DB.

Jackson did nothing against Dallas, of course the cowboys are much better than us on defense. I think we double vjax and see what they can do with other guys

Re: Redskins @ Bucs- Lets break it down

VJ and Doug Martin scare me in this game. I can see them causing mismatch problems on our defense.

Donald Penn is a name to look out for. He is a very good underrated LT (ranked 99-98? on the NFL top 100 fwiw) He should contain both our passrushers pretty easily.

I still expect us to put up big points on the bucs, especially if Clayborns out. But its that secondary of theres that bothers me. Ronde is now a charles woodson safety, Aqib Talib is a very good corner and eric wright has his moments (he can either suck big time sunday or have 2 picks against us; he's one of those players.)

We play them in Tampa too so keep that in mind.

Clayborn is out for the season, I agree about our defense because right now we make any offense look good

Re: Redskins @ Bucs- Lets break it down

Jackson is still incredibly dangerous, Dallas's secondary is fierce and their pass rush got to Freeman. If we can't get to Freeman like Dallas did, then VJax will burn us badly.

Yards Allowed
WSH 429
TB 401
Pass Yds Allowed
WSH 337
TB 353
Rush Yds Allowed
WSH 92
TB 47

This needs to be a huge pocket passing game for Griffin, Tampa looks stingy in run defense but worse than us on the back end. (don't know if that's possible)

Wow Skins have only allowed 92 rushing yds in three games thats impressive wait wait........oooooh thats right teams dont have to run it when they have receivers screaming wide open down field all day. But that stops this week baby, Hassletusdown rallies the troops, d comes up big!

Re: Redskins @ Bucs- Lets break it down

A single second is an eternity in football, but that's what we need. We can outscore the bucs if the offensive line can give Griff 1 more second without pressure to the pocket.

They are going to score against us, there is no way to avoid that short of a reverse Clinton Portis/Champ Bailey trade.

So pass protection is the key.

One thing that probably helped with the Saints win was Raheem Morris's familiarity with how to deal with them. I hope it helps this time around too.
