Re: 10 Favorite Redskins That No One Else Knows About
Here's something I bet no one other than Vince Coleman knows:
![]() (read back of card): ![]() Story was, Vince was a good punter in college and tried to make the Redskins as a punter. His cousin was a punter on the Vikings, Greg Coleman. Well, the Redskins noticed his speed and wanted to make him a wide receiver, bur he sprained his ankle, sat out camp and chose baseball...where he was a base-stealing machine. We'll never see anyone steal 145 bases in 113 games again! Hey, the Skins had it right...wow, what could have been. Too bad he was a Cowboys fan though. SI article on it: It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's the Cardinals' Vince - 06.17.85 - SI Vault I think I just won the thread. ![]()

Fred Phelps (Michaels dad) is another:
Phelps was born and raised in the Rodgers Forge neighborhood of Towson, Maryland, located just north of Baltimore.[7] Michael is the youngest of three children. His mother, Deborah Sue "Debbie" (née Davisson), is a middle school principal.[8] His father, Michael Fred Phelps, is a retired Maryland state trooper who played football in high school and college and tried out for the Washington Redskins in the 1970s.

DL , McDole and Talbert , hated the cowboys ! DB - KR , Eddie Brown , had a heck of a game on a mudd soaked field vs the ST. Louis Cardinals '74 / '75 . D. Warren, Milot , Coleman and Olkewics , made our ' 79 draft and help win some rings during the 80's ! OL R. McKenzie , the man played nearly all positions and was a true Redskin .

Jean Fugett. He played TE for George Allen's Redskins and was chosen for the pro bowl after the 1977 season. A lot of older Redskins fans probably don't remember him.
