No clue why...Especially with the fact AP and the running game seemed to be better.
1.Smith isn't as good as Cousins in Jay's system. JJ and Sanchez are not NFL QBs.

2. Crowder and Richardson were hurt the majority of the year

3. Reed has regressed.

4. Docston at best is a 3rd wr.

5. Some of the other guys... Simms, Quinn, Davis all hurt.

Is Sims just another Marko Mitchell? Or can he develop and learn to be a disciplined NFL wr? Can Davis also develop?

The team's approach was to be more conservative with the passing game and to take care of the ball; that approach worked through 9 games, until Alex Smith went down. The running game improved, because the team had few turnovers, controlled the time of possession, and the defense was doing a good job.

Our QB (Cousins) had multiple HEALTHY years in the system to learn/execute it, getting nearly every single rep in Camp/Practice/Games. He also had way better talent as he was learning that system with Garcon and Jackson. By the time they left he could get the offense going with lesser talented players.

We had none of that this year and a whole lot of injuries to go with it.

Jay would never be comfortable w/ a coach like Williams.

I agree with both you and Skins69...

Cousins had just as many injuries along the Oline and receiver...and possibly had worst receiving talent.

But being in Jay's system as a vet certainly benefited him.

I think with our QB situation we need to add talent at Oline, add another quick Vet at Receiver...draft another Receiver mid round. But move the team in a "running game" type offense...while bringing the passing game along.

Williams wouldn't put up with his shit or the clown show in the front office. We should still try to land him. We need someone with some balls on the sidelines...eff it, I want to see Williams out there punching people...full chaos.

Williams created his own shit show with the whole bounty scandal and he was basically exiled from the NFL for a few seasons.

I'm all for change, but we can get a competent DC without bringing someone who has created his own shit show before.

Based on lack of action on defense side by Gruden, I think we need to start accepting the fact that we are sticking with Manusky.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

I don’t think Williams is even a possibility.

From Williams perspective, He had essentially been promised the HC job when Gibbs time as HC ended, so he has no reason to trust Snyder.

From Snyder’s perspective, Williams had said some negative things about Gibbs after he left, which pissed Snyder off and was purportedly the reason Williams didn’t get the job.

Perhaps it’s all water under the bridge now, but i have the sense that Snyder is one to hold grudges.

I would bet that G. Williams is looking for a HC gig and will only settle for DC position if that doesn't happen. I doubt that he'd get a HC job.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

The whole thing about Williams being promised the HC job after Gibbs was a myth.

As far as bounty gate goes, I wouldn't let that get in the way of hiring one of the best DC's in the game.

And I think Gruden has every incentive to try to hire the best guy he can. Same with Bruce.

The issue seems to be that Williams will have a lot of suitors. I think we're more likely to lose out because he can just about pick where he wants to go, not because he wouldn't want to come back here.

If I am Gregg I wouldn't come to DC, Why would he? I'd go to a team that is built better on Offense so that the pressure isn't as high to perform on Defense like it will be for us.
