Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Remember the days when hiring someone with no coordinator experience as HC was looked at as asinine? I member.
Hope Weaver isn't the next Jim Zorn.

Campbell wasn't a coordinator before the Lions job

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Oh I'm not saying it's a bad thing in the modern NFL. Antonio Pierce was just the LB coach and by all accounts he's done a good job with the Raiders.
Just saying I remember when it was a bad thing when the HC had no coordinator experience. The times change - doesn't matter if you don't have coordinator experience as long as you have leadership qualities. Also I'm slowly selling myself on Anthony Weaver as HC - apparently in 2022 he was the Ravens run game coordinator and d-line coach, then in 2023 he was assistant head coach/d-line coach. Former coordinator for the Texans before that. And as long as he's respected by the players and can identify quality coordinators/playcallers it's all good with me. I agree with Adam Peters - the HC doesn't need to be a primary playcaller/etc. - he needs to be the leader.

Anyone we hire now will be ranked no higher than the 'Meh' category. Feels like we're getting left holding the bag.

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
The 'Meh' category is my own personal feeling on the matter, not the generic fanbase. That being said, I hope the choice is Glenn or Weaver. Quinn does absolutely nothing for me.

Vrabel must either have a lot of demands or be an absolute mother effer to work with.

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Well, 1 thing is clear 43 of 48 people who responded to the poll won't get their top choice.
I do think they need to get a deal done as the coach will need time to get his staff in place, and other teams are starting to lock up the critical assistant positions. Also it is pretty clear that being the top-rated opportunity for a new HC was not enough of a draw against the backdrop of the lack of talent that is on the current roster. |

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I don’t see any of these options as a win. All appear to be settling for table scraps that everyone else has no interest.
I certainly wouldn’t want to draft a QB with any of them, they will get killed back there with our OLine and some clown ass OC they scrape off the bottom of the barrel. As most of you are smitten with wasting a #2 pick on a project QB not worthy of said pick, you should pray for a reset on the search for HC. Someone who could groom a college QB in the nfl and not get him killed or completely ruined. Maybe Saban? Or, Smart? I gather most don’t want EB back, and I’m almost sure that includes the players, but I’m leaning towards keeping EB, trading back, loading up on OLine and full other holes next via draft an free agency. Let Sam have a go, and if no success, cut bait on EB and Sam with a new Oline built and hopefully more playmakers under contract. As a Redskins fan, I’m used to praying for a miracle to happen.

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Top Candidate was Ben Johnson.
The question now is who is plan B? Could we see a scenario where a temp guy is in place for next year? Maybe it’s EB for 2024 then go after Ben Johnson next year. I don’t want to go with a mediocre guy for the next 5 years. I’d rather have EB get us another top 5 pick while we wait for the guy. |

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Hate to say it but Bill Belichick is still available .
Not sure he'd sign up for a scenario where he doesn't have total control though.
