Re: Where are the apologies?

I am really happy that our Skins won. I think everyone has pretty much hashed and re-hashed (myself included) their thoughts on Brunell v. Ramsey. Some have waxed eloquently, while others have been down right "in your face", which is fine by me.

Here's my two cents regarding last nights win: Earlier today I was watching that idiot on ESPN - Rome is Burning. What an idiot. He totally blasted Gibbs and called Gibbs "Clueless Joe" because Gibbs said it was one the greatest moments he's ever been a part of. He proceeded to name all of Gibbs' sports accomplishments, NASCAR included and basically came to the conclusion by his little self that last night's win paled in comparison.

I couldn't have disagreed with him more. Especially the celebrating and the dousing of Gibbs with Gatorade.

Who are "we" to tell Gibbs and his team how they are to express themselves after a huge win?? Where is it written that pouring Gatorade on the winning coach is reserved for postseason victories only??

To hell with the rules, to hell with etiquette and "sportsmanship" and composure, to hell with conventional reasoning - it's been a long time coming, and I for one felt that the celebration was very appropriate - especially since I was doing the same damn thing!!!

Peopel who do not love this team do not understand that the two games of the year against dallas are the most important. Period. If you ask most Redskins fans if they'd rather get swept by Dallas and win the Super Bowl, or sweep Dallas and lose, most would at least have to think about it. Joe Gibbs, say what you want, LOVES this franchise. He takes pride in it. We can question his decision making or style of playcalling, but there is no doubting the man's sincere devotion to the Redskins. Rome's an idiot. Obviously, he has no clue what a RIVALRY is. Good thing he's a sports talk radio host. :smashfrea

Re: Where are the apologies?

Some have said they will root for Ramsey to DO WELL if he's traded, I don't think anyone is switching allegiances or anything... That would be pretty fucking special...

Angry Re: Where are the apologies?

Goddamnit. I thought I would enjoy coming on the warpath and discussing the games this year. All of this shit is really getting to me. I'm all for discussion and expression... but all this "you're not a real fan" and "wheres my apology" is total bullshit. I LOVE this team and I LOVE this site, but if I want to get ignorant shit talked to me I'll go join a dallas site. I'll never apologize for having an opinion whether its right or wrong and if you're looking for it you can suck it out of my white hairy ass.

Re: Where are the apologies?

Although I originally thought after game 1 that Ramsey would continue to start (and I would've supported him) I actually took Gibbs' side on the issue since I trusted him more than either QB. By the second quarter against the Cowboys, I was actually starting to wonder if Gibbs was being too stubborn and just gratifying his own pride. I can't say I've doubted him like that before, but Brunell was playing horribly, looking an awful lot like the guy we saw last season. I was also pissed that we didn't throw more downfield passes, something I kept mentioning to my friends. In the end, I'm glad we won and I'm confident that Gibbs will look at the game tapes and open up the offense a little more. It's also nice to know that Brunell does still have an arm. For the time being, we have NO quarterback controversy.

Re: Where are the apologies?

Someone here said I started this thread as a "troll". Thank you for reading my mind - - and getting it wrong.

I started this thread because I actually thought that some of the people who had spent an entire week crabbing at the coaching staff might - - MIGHT - - take some of the joy that comes from the kind of win that happened on Monday night and turn it into some contrition. Not only was I wrong about that, I now have the honor of having people declare what my motives were in starting this thread. Since I am POSITIVE that you don't know why I started the thread, then maybe I should take your other declarations here with a grain of salt?

And just to remand the discussion to an issue in the original post, lots of people here started threads and contributed to threads saying in no uncertain terms that the Redskins' players would never trust Joe Gibbs ever again. Should I go and find those threads and do some quoting here? Well, if that's the way the team will hang in and play hard to the end for a coach that they won't trust as far as I can throw a piano - with one hand - then let's find some other reasons for them not to trust him.

I don't read players' minds; so I don't know if they trust Joe Gibbs or not. I don't really care either. Here's what I know. They were down on Monday night, and most teams in that circumstance would have rolled over and played dead for the final 5 minutes of the game. But this team didn't. So maybe they "respect" Joe Gibbs even if they can't possibly "trust him".

I just got home from a trip - - had to watch the game in a hotel bar last night. I fully expected to see at least three or four threads in here full of apologies from people who had accused Joe Gibbs of being a lying weasel and a backstabbing ne'er-do-well, but I can't seem to find them. OK, you may still not like the way he handled the situation, but he got it right.

Asking for apologies, and attempting to say that Gibbs was right with this decision regardless of what happened the first 56 minutes, you act as if that win solves all our problems on offense? I couldn't be more solidified after that game with my thought about the switch, regardless of how it was handled.

I even said that I had a feeling we were going to win not based upon what I believed to be Brunell's ability to lead us, but based on all the controversy, and frustration, coming into this game with the boy's would culminate into a victory, I felt we would probably get a defensive TD from Bledsoe [which didn't happen] but I just had a feeling something unusual would happen to lead us to victory, and it did, Brunell played QB for 4 minutes. And yes I also put my money where my mouth was on that prediction, and put 200.00 on the skins to win out right forgoing the points, getting 2-1 on my money.

But if you think you started this thread not trying to antagonize others, you may want to re read your own post.

I was more than happy to lay back and enjoy this week until you couldn't leave well enough alone SC.

I can't believe a civil war is about to erupt on this site AFTER we beat Dallas.
