Re: Dwayne Haskins preseason thread

Dwayne isn't ready to start , his tape proved that last week. If he plays flawless the next few weeks, then we can talk but right now I'd roll with Case

Re: Dwayne Haskins preseason thread

I'm eager to see what he looks like v. Cincy. I could see him looking better with the 1st game experience in the books and getting a real look at an NFL defense. Looking forward to the game- of course

He has a long ways to go, start Keenum.

It's hard to evaluate him cause the 2nd string line can't block toddlers. But I would agree he isn't ready. I think it would be boom or bust with him right now. He'd hit a few big plays but also would take a lot of sacks and wouldn't convert 3rd downs. I'd put him with the 1st team next week and see how he does.

He did. Seems to read blitzes and pre snaps very well which is a huge attribute for any NFL qb yet alone a rookie. Missed a few passes but that should come. Seems very intelligent also from his presnaps and interview. Happy we drafted him for our future qb.

Re: Dwayne Haskins preseason thread

Haven't seen him take on a first string defense yet. At the same time, haven't seen him play with Reed and McLaurin yet, and with support from the starting RBs.

Definitely better. Some of the bad throws were in spots where the defense didn't have a shot at it, high and long on a couple deep or sideline shots.

Yeah I think we'll get even more of a preview of him next week. Game 3 should be more revealing for sure. I honestly think letting him observe for awhile and polish a few of his mechanics are going to work wonders for Haskins. He clearly has a ton of raw talent and skill.

I would start him next week with the 1's and give him the 1st half.

He's as smart as it gets for reading a defense, it's actually his greatest attribute

I did love seeing him identify the blitz and communicate the protection on the TD throw to Davis. The line didn't really pick it up well, despite knowing it was coming, thanks to Haskins. But he saw it, recognized it, communicated it, and trusted his line to make the block. He then stood in there understanding he'd get hit and delivered a strike. It showed maturity.

If he were to start Week 1 against Philly I'm still convinced he'd turn the ball over several times. Then again Keenum might, too. That defensive line is good and no matter who it is we'd have to win via the ground game and sound defense.

Maybe it is worth giving Haskins some run against Atlanta's 1s with our starting offense. To at least get a feel for where he is.

I would do that if I was Jay, IMO QB's do not learn better on the bench, they need reps. As far as Philly goes, if we can't protect the ball we will get killed

Id give Keenum the first drive with the 1s and then let Haskins go with the ones rest of half. Still want Haskins to think Keenum is the one.

I think Keenum needs to start for now. Haskins will get his first start in due time.

My damn power went out just when the game started and didn't come back till it was over. It seemed like normally Redskin hating MSN had good things to say about Haskins. Was his footwork any better from game one?
