Ordinarily I would never try to defend the Cowboys on anything, especially on something that contributed to their demise, but that's just another case of the NFL being overzealous about the rules at all times. If a guy falls to the ground during a touchdown celebration unintentionally it shouldn't be a penalty, it should only be a penalty if it's intentional. Same thing with Megatron's catch in week 1 against the Bears. I can see why the officials didn't rule it a catch because according to the definition in the rulebook, that wasn't a catch. But he cleanly caught it and had possession in the end zone, and it wasn't like the ball fell out of his hands, he just put it on the ground and got up. But as soon as possession was established in the end zone it should've been ruled a catch. I hope they amend that rule in the offseason because that was obviously a game changing moment and it was negated because everybody is too concerned with rules. I'm not trying to make it sound like rules aren't important and shouldn't be followed, but if they are going to be so proactive on enforcing a shallow rule like that, then they need to be proactive and call every broken rule on every play. You're gonna penalize a guy for unintentionally falling to the ground during a celebration but you won't penalize a tackle for wrapping his arm around a defenders neck to prevent him from sacking the qb? /rant over. |

^ way to play yesterday Giantone! You rolled Houston up like we were until we caved.. Texans D is by far the worst in football, they are pretenders IMO.. But still a good road win.

Wade Phillips and Jason Garret are toast after this year, maybe before. The Cowboys have Pro Bowlers up and down that roster, but for some reason this team just doesn't play with any fire or sense of urgency.
I'd be very surprised if they make the playoffs this year. |

Talk about a deceiving stats; The Cowboys are 2nd in total offense, 8th in defense. Yet they're 1-3.
The Skins, on the other hand, are dead last in defense, right in the middle of the pack on offense and we're 3-2, tied for first in the division. Love it. |

Am I predicting such a resurgence? Hell no. I think they will spiral downward. But it is too early to stick a fork in them with certainty.

Re: Nfl Regular season thread ( week 5 )
What's killing the cowboys is not the fact that they are 1-3,it's the fact that 2 of those 3 losses are @Home in their yard.
They lose to Chicago and Tennessee at home and those are 2 teams that are beatable with the high praise the cowboys get week end and week out. They only have 6 more home games remaining Redskins,Giants Eagles,Saints,Jaguars and Lions. None of those Home games are going to be easy including the way the Lions are putting up points and the way the Jags are playing. and their road games are going to be brutal with Giants,Eagles,Vikings,Packers,Colts,Cardinals remaining...

Re: Nfl Regular season thread ( week 5 )
As i've said i a previous post i live in WI and went to my local Packer freindly bar in my Taylor 21 jersey. I got alot of flack for the first 3 qtrs, but by the 4th I wasn't hearing the same cocky bs. I loved this game LL is a beast! D Mc is a Warrior. We have a reason to be positive this year and the NFC East can be ours if we want it! HTTR!

Truth is there's probably not much separating most NFL teams in terms of talent, but it's all about playing for four quarters and the 49ers, thus far, have not been able to do that. Good teams create luck, bad teams succumb to it. |

When you let Kevin Kolb run 19 yds on a 3rd and 18 you are a 0-4 team. Period

It's because they're the dumbest team in the NFL. Hands down.

Definitely an odd season in the making.
Seeing the Chargers lose like they did to the Raiders....I mean Wow! Any team is capable of winning on any given Sunday this season.
