I'll give him a shot though.
He froze the pay of people making $100,000 or more. Not sure about all the restrictions he put on lobbying on his staff but I do not believe those restrictions apply to congress and they are the ones that really have this problem. Also I think that this is only a pleadge he ask them to take but I don't think he could actually stop them from lobbying if they quit working on his staff and took up a job lobbying. As far as closing Gismo (spelling and stopping the trials of the detainees I feel his timing is way off. I feel he is passing a bad message to the ones who want to do us harm that he might be soft against the war on terror. I feel he should have waited and not done this as the first thing in office. I heard today that he has also put a hault to any bills and stuff to do with offshore drilling. I guess we will see.

The only one soft on the war on terror was Bush. Its still very early to judge how Obama is going to be. But, Bush was definetly soft on Terror. That man picked up a book and started to read when he was told his country was being attacked. Thats soft! Also, his military had Bin Laden cornered in the mountains of Afghanistan.................Bush pulls them back and lets the locals go get Bin Laden. And Bin Laden "slips through" then dissappears. If Bush was hard on Terror he would have told the locals to go screw themselves and ordered his military to go get Bin Laden. As if all of that wasn't enough, he then pulls his military out of Afghanistan and then puts them into Iraq. He just stopped the hard core search for Bin Laden and started a new war. A war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. He was very very soft on terror.

We'll see how Obama handles this. I do like, while he was campaigning, when he said that he was going to pull his troops out of Iraq and put them back into Afghanistan. That is a start! Hopefully, he'll follow through, come up with a plan, and catch that bastard!

First off I never said he was soft on terror I said he might give the impression that he is soft on terror. Sorry but Bush was not soft on terror and I'm not going to get into that again because Bush is no longer the president.

Re: Official Inauguration Day Thread

I just re-read Kennedy's inaugural speech for shits and giggles and I have to say that if he gave that speech today I'm not sure people would say it was all that great. I mean, is the "Ask Not" stuff really great on its own or has it just become kind of accepted mythology at this point. Perhaps speechmaking is a 20th century thing. We're all used to heavily edited shotgun blasts of visuals. I'm not sure any speech can really move a crowd. Carlin was hip to this at the end. He was doing rapid fire stream of conciousness because I think he was convinced that young people today can only assimilate fragments and not extended verbal narratives.

I tried to find the Carlin bit on YT but I didn't see it. It was real machine gun style. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can find it, please post it. In addition to making my point, it's also really funny.

They're the educated people who know better than you and I. I'm just a bumpkin from hick-town. What would I know about latte's and climate change?

I don't know about that dude. Bush is gone, but his screw-ups remain and will remain for a while. Just because Bush is gone doesn't mean that there is nothing wrong with this country. It just means that he can't screw anything else up. So I'm going to keep on mentioning Bush until there is not one screw up left to fix. It might be a while so please be patient!

Great so I can keep mentioning Clinton and Johnson and FDR too. And let's not even begin with the Congress.
My point is our country, good as it is, is in a constant state of problems. Obama, like every other politician, knows that when they take office, and has to deal with what they were dealt. Please look at my sig to see what Obama said towards your comment.

Yep, we're officially on Obama's watch right now. It sucks that he stepped into a big steaming pile of 'W' dung but that comes with the territory. It's his job to clean it up.

I don't know much about climate change, but I did have a latte this morning.

If you would not mind, please post the date (so we can all take note) when President O'Bama will be running the country and accountable for same.....or will it be a ...changing kind of thing?
