Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
I think Portis is saying this so no one will view him as the threat that they have in the past. defenses let their guard down and boom Portis is running through them like the final 5 weeks of the 2005 season.

Betts works VERY well in this system. He is an excellent receiver out of the backfield, and he is a great north / south runner which is what this offense needs. His issues are the fact that he fumbles too much and need to be better at blocking, but both of those can be fixed and we could very easily get better production out of him.

You should also add Springs' deal, Smoot's deal, Rogers' deal, Wright's deal, Harris' deal and the bums that we grasped at. Either way they should give him the ball 500 times this year and next (assuming he makes it to next year). |

How does that quote make you think he isn't happy here? Why is he not happy here? Because he doesnt want to get hurt in preseason? That makes no sense.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
I do not see what everyone is getting so damn worked up about. He made a simple comment that he needed to perform this year. Every athlete should feel that way every year. Some people took this thread and his comment to the extreme and ran with it. Slow down. He has been productive ever since he has been here. Even last year he was second or third in scoring behind LT before being placed on IR. Being 26 years old, he has alot of football left in him. Even if the injury bug creeps up on him again so what! Its not like the guy is exactly injury prone. If you want to talk about injury prone look no further than Shawn Springs, who hasn't been completely healthy the past 2 seasons. Did we get rid of him? NO! We brought in some help for insurrance. Like CP, Springs carries a hefty contract and big play potential. Plus he is quite a few years older. Stop trying to throw CP to the wolves just because he made a comment about his future here if he doesn't perform. The comment did not come from coaches or any other officials. It was a comment by CP which reveals what he is thinking right now. Obviously he is worried and has a chip on his shoulder. He feels that he needs to prove himself again. That's all. Stop your flippin crying.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
I was pretty upset with this trade from jump street. Any back is great in Denver...I thought he was too slight for the ground and pound...and Champ Bailey and a PICK!...I was scratching my head, but keeping the faith. Now I remember why I was pissed. I was hoping they'd get LaMont Jordan who was being shopped by the Jets at that time. Big fast and mean and would have loved to been behind this line as opposed to the Raidassss.

Hey you and me both...I never thought FOX should have let Johnny Depp go for Grieco
Seriously though, CP is going to prove a lot, A LOT, of people wrong this year.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.
Bailey didn't want to play here? Who says? Money talks and if the money was right he'd still be a Skin today. Instead, we have lost a Hall of Fame corner back to bookend Darrell Green and are down a high draft pick whose impact we would will never know and have a mediocre running back whose only real highlite was his first carry as a Skin...an 80 yard skamper to the end zone. After that? In the mean time Phillip Rivers and Trent Green were terrified of throwing the ball anywhere near Champ. Let us face facts...Portis is jovial and fun while Champ is stuck on himself...but Champ is going to the Hall and Portis is going somewhere other than DC next season. And what is with you amature psychologists perporting to understand what makes this man tick? Fact is, he has brought up an issue...an issue on the verge of a destraction on the verge of creating a running back controversy which could divide feelings. He is motivating himself? How by sitting out practice while Betts and others are busting their humps? GET OUT! He should be gone. We paid a high price for this man...he should be flattered...and that should be enough to motivate him...that Gibbs and company thought he was worth a Hall of Famer and a pick. Hey CP...get bent.

Funny that you're accusing people of being amateur psychologists, yet just before that you proceeded to give your amateur diagnosis of how CP ticks and that he's gone after this year... and that Champ would have stayed for the money. So I guess it's worth asking where did you get your PhD from? Trust me, he wasn't coming back for the money. There are rumors that he needed to get out of town for personal reasons. Draw your own conclusions. |
