There is a formula that NFL types use to value draft picks in future years for trade purposes. That first round pick next year would be worth about a third round pick this year. Maybe a low second rounder at best. Under those circumstances, such a deal would look like:

P.Ramsey + #2 + #3 <--> J. Abraham

Is that too much to pay?

I think the rumor mill is that they may bring back Kerry Collins.......but then again, the Raiders change every day on what they are going to do at QB. You're right though, no interest in Ramsey from what I've heard.

Well, with Brees going to the Saints and Culpepper going to the Dolphins, I wonder how all that is going to affect the draft and Ramsey's chances of getting traded.

The Jets are now in prime position to get Cutler or Leinert. But, they've already got Pennington. If I were the Jets I would trade down or pick up LT Ferguson. They need some protection for whomever is going to be playing under center. Right now, their line is pathetic.

This improves the Jets chances of moving up in the draft to get Leinart if they want him. The key is in how they regard Ramsey. If they think he has a real upside, they can use their number one for D'Brick.

I can't imagine Ramsey being interested in a signing a new deal with the Jets that does not indicate that they seriously want him as something more than a backup or stopgap while they get Cutler or someone else ready.

i would think people would want brick first. a QB is only going to be as good as your o-line lets him or her be.

Not to mention they lost Randy Thomas to us a few years ago, they cut Mawae, and they let RT Kareem McKenzie go to the Giants last season. Who exactly do they plan to have at OL?
