That's true...I know I don't want my Bruins to face the Pens. I know we don't "really" have a shot, but you never know...hey the Giants won the Super Bowl, anything is possible!!!! (except of course the Wizards beating the Celtics in the eastern conference! hahaha)

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

This is turning out to be a tight one, as expected. With Tampa having nothing on the line and just getting crushed by the Cans they would love to hand out the upset.

We need to come out and play our very best in the 3rd and get these 2 points. And hope Ovie is OK, if anybody can come back out and play hes the man. Hopefully just a burner.

64 goals and counting for the GREAT 8! Maybe one more tonight...? To seal the deal...... GO CAPS!!!!!!!!

What a way to finish! The GREAT 8 is UNSTOPPABLE! If thats LUCK......the rest of the league better hope they are LUCKY enough to not play this team, in WHICH I FIRMLY believe will be in the playoffs, and by the way we are tired for the 7/8th spot NOW!

This is the hottest team in the NHL RIGHT NOW!

The GREAT 8...... KUDOS, great record breaking performance!

One more time Saturday night......LETS KEEP ROLLING....just another FLA. team in the way.

What a beatdown! Shoulda been 5-1. That goal they disallowed for the phantom "interference" was bullshit. Go CAPS!

Ovie with the most goals EVER by a left winger. Hell yeah. Can't say enough about Huet either. What a stud.

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

Its a good time to be a Washington DC sports fan. The Skins made the playoffs last year and now the Caps are in contention to make it to the playoffs.

I gotta a question for my fellow washingtonians....when was the last time that the Skins, Wizards, and Caps made the playoffs in the same year?

Granted, I know we shouldn't count the Skins because they made it in 07, but still......I'm loving this right now. We had G-Town, GMU, and American U make the NCAA tournament and now we have the Caps close to making the playoffs and the Nats are 3-1!!!

Nats should be 4-0

But to answer your question...it's been too long

Hey, hey, hey, now I know that Boston is in fact the best team in the Eastern Conference but they haven't dominated the Wizards all season long, it's been a good series so far and if Boston and the Wiz met in the playoffs I don't think it would be a quick sweep. I'm far more worried about facing the Cavs in the playoffs, they have always had our number there and if we want to be a great team we gotta be able to compete with them. I'm not trying to get offtopic here though so w/e.

And great game by the Caps tonight, we came out strong in the first and there wasn't much happening in the second, but Ovie and the crew stepped up in the third to seal the win for us. All we gotta do is beat the Panthers and get a little help from either Philly/Boston/Carolina and we'll be in. I have to say I really hope Boston loses tomorrow night so we can take the 7th seed, that would be great because we wouldn't have to play the Pens in the first round.

And don't forget we are not out of this thing for Southeast division title. If the Cans LOSS tonight. We WIN Saturday, we take the Southeast title....go Panthers tonight in NC.

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

lolol I'm not afraid to face the Pens, I just don't like our chances against the Pens. I'm not gonna make excuses but I do think next year having Boudreau for a full season will give the Caps a much better record and we wouldn't have to worry about facing you guys. I'll admit, the Pens are a better team than the Caps, but right now the Caps have a lot of momentum on their side.

Still though my dream scenario would be the Caps getting in the playoffs in the 7 or 3 seed, and then have Philly make it as the 8th seed, and hopefully Philly would be able to beat Pitt in the first round so we wouldn't have to worry about them. Personally I think there's very few teams right now that the Caps wouldn't like to face, but the Pens are one of those teams.

Without Crosby, but with Malkin, who happens to be the 2nd in points in the League right now. The Pens have incredible talent (8588 - stop saying Malkin is underrated...), but the Caps are playing the same level of hockey with what the critics and experts consider inferior talent.

The Caps poured it on last night. The interference call was pretty bad, but in the end, 2 from Ovie and the Caps won nonetheless. Huet had a stellar game after giving up that early goal. Things are moving along. One more win...
