Well it's not as bad as you think. Last week a journalist asked Riggins which team would win today if they played each other the 1982 Redskins or this year's Commanders. Riggins conceded it would be close but the 1982 team would still win - he thought 21-17.

Journalist was shocked asked why he thought that - Riggins pointed out that he and most his teammates were in their 70s and not in top game shape.

That was a fabricated quote as Riggins never said such a thing. It was a quote via Michael Jordan in which someone changed the words and attached it to Riggins.

I had not viewed our situation in broad enough terms (until you put it that way). We are now the unchallenged NFL definition of despair.

I never want to talk about a commanders team again after this season.

I think you might be disappointed. I imagine in the order of business that might be down the road. I wouldn't be surprised if a new name gets rolled out when we move to a new venue. A complete rebrand.

Their defense checked the F out over the past couple of weeks. They will go out in the first round of the playoffs. I can't see how they can win a game.

Their D coordinator should be fired in their offseason. Absolutely unacceptable

Oh I don't know, the Panthers could give us a run for our money. While Snyder dumped sewage on fans, Tepper only had beer to hand.

Even the Panthers had that magical 15-1 season under Ron. Best we've ever done under Snyder was 10-6. Aka barely making it to the playoffs - we had 3-4 of those years where we were mediocre and then won 4-6 in a row to make the playoffs. We've never had a consistently great season since '91.

That 15-1 records was before Tepper bought them. They've stunk as bad, if not worse, since.

Oh for sure - but they're new school dumpster fire. We're old school dumpster fire - like the Browns/Lions/Cardinals/etc. Problem is all of those teams have escaped the fire at some point in the last 20 years.

Re: Around the NFL - Week 18

Only 3 candidates I reckon, Ryans, Shanahan or Campbell. I too would go with Ryans as as the Texans only really struggled when Stroud was out and they overcame that and some other key injuries to end up where they did. And Campbell has that whole 2pt conversion schtick going on.

Re: Around the NFL - Week 18

Following up on the trades of our starting defensive ends:

Montez Sweat is the first player in NFL history to lead 2 teams in sacks in the same year - but we got a 2nd rounder so I'd say it breaks even (if he was gonna be too expensive to resign we basically got a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd).

Chase Young had 5 sacks in 8 games with us and 2.5 sacks with the 49ers as a reserve end in 9 games. Getting a 3rd rounder for him is great value for us. Definitely won that trade unless he blows up next year.
