OT: Williams, Polumbus, Black (compton to PS, Brown to IR/retirement)
OG: Lichtensteiger, Chester, Hurt, Gettis (leribeus to PS)
C: Montgomery, Cook (who still sucks)

Total offense: 25

DT: Cofield, Golston, Baker
DE: Carriker, Bowen, Jenkins, Scott (Neild to IR)
OLB: Orakpo, Kerrigan, Wilson, Jackson
ILB: Fletcher, Riley, Alexander, White, Robinson (or kehl and robinson to PS)
FS: Williams, Jackson
SS: Meriweather, Doughty
CB: Hall, Wilson, Griffin, Barnes, Crawford

Total Defense: 25

S/T: gano (maybe), rocca, sundberg

total 53, and 4-5 more on the PS (as noted)

dejon gomes doesn't fit, but i wouldn't be surprised if someone else (like, uh, cook or rex) eats it instead. I think this is a pretty good guess though.
Cook is a cut, McRib will be the back up C.
It will be Robinson to the PS, Kehl makes it
Im praying its Gomes over Reed, but dont think thats gonna happen
Robinson(KR) instead of AA at WR
White to the PS at OLB
Black is a cut, Compton makes it
Alfred Morris makes it, 4 RBs
JB to IR

I thought the guy was younger.. I could have swore he was 4th or 5th year........Anywho, 32 isn't ancient or anything, Olineman can have relatively long shelf lives. But we would definitely prefer one of our young guys to outplay him, sure. But in the limited action Ive seen him in when he played for the Jags, he actually did a decent job.

Also, I think they will keep some young draftees on the 53 man roster (i.e. LeRibeus and Morris) because they have to clear waivers before they can be signed to the practice squad.

you misunderstood, i said or kehl (to active) and then robinson to PS (instead of active).

and yes, black will make the team. he's been starting in place fo trent at practice, which means he's in our top three OTs right now, and tere's no way we're going with only 2 on the active roster.

the weird thing is if you look at production and playing time, doughty vs gomes is WAY in doughty's favor, even though we're all tired of watching him get beat.

everything is definitely plausible, but i do believe black will probably make it.

I would be shocked if doughty wasn't on the team.

Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions

The thing about Doughty is if Jackson starts turning it on the rest of preseason which he has the ability to do then I think hes gone. Yes, Daughty is a good guy and solid in run support but is a liability in coverage. Willaims has leap frogged him on the depth chart and Gomes has kinda been flying under the radar with a solid camp and first preseason game. Gomes is also a Shanny draft pick and Doughty is not. I Jackson comes to play the next few weeks then his boy Morris will bang the table for him to get a spot. Doughty has no ties to this coaching staff and hasnt done anything in camp to impress.

Doughty will be on the roster. Despite his lacking coverage skills, he's one of the surest tacklers in the NFL statistically. He rarely misses a tackle.

Tanard Jackson, unfortunately has been one of the worst-tackling safeties in the NFL for 3 years. He's missed 43 tackles in the last 3 seasons, with 114 tackles. Look at that ratio! In 2011, Tanard attempted 57 tackles and missed 24 of them!

Reed's decent as a backup. We've just had to use him as a starter though, a role he's not up for.

While looking at stats, D-Hall and Cedric Griffin are two of the better run-stop CBs in the league.

I know Tanard Jackson has some playmaking ability that Doughty lacks, but his tackling stats scare me. I'm hoping someone can really step up to be a solid backup. Whether it's Doughty, Gomes or Barnes, I don't care, but if we're relying on Tanard Jackson to save us, we're going to be cursing a lot this season. He appears to be one of the worst tacklers in the league.

I think you just made the argument not to keep Doughty around. We have two of the best CB's at doing it and the tackling machines that are Fletcher and Riley. Now we need someone to make big plays and cover.

Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions

How can we splice Jackson and Doughty together to get Jackson's playmaking ability and Doughty's tackling? Mods, get to work on this.
