This is the year for Callahan to earn his money. I will say again that I think Flowers has improved at the OG slot, particularly for run blocking. The question will be if Penn, Christian or waiver pickup OT is going to be decent enough.

The other side of the coin is that the Vikings didn't have a stellar line, and I don't think Denver did either, but I don't know that for sure. This will probably be the best line Keenum has been behind even without Trent. Haskins has shown he needs to be protected, but Keenum made his living in Minnesota after the pocket broke down. Of course the NFC East has some of the best defensive lines too

It's getting closer to brass tax, but I don't agree that we're there yet. If Trent doesn't show up for the first practice of Week 1, then it's time to freak out.

The hammer is still the $11M worth of game checks he'd miss by sitting out games. He doesn't start giving those up until he misses Week 1. If you're freaking out now then you wouldn't be good at a game of chicken. The time to panic and consider veering off course is Week 1.

If Trent suiting up for the Skins was a commodity Id be selling futures shares for a very high price.

Because guys only do that if it is going to result in championships. Nobody is taking a pay cut to help a team go 8-8 instead of 6-10.

Do you think we're an 8-8 team with Trent? If everyone stays healthy (a big if, I know), I think we fare better.

I actually think Christian has looked better than Penn overall. Neither have been good, but if I had to pick one today it would be Christian. Penn has looked slow and tired and out of shape.

Look at our owner. He doesn't take care of the players the way some owners do. Yes, he pays big but he isn't exactly known for his locker room affection. Players aren't going to miss out on millions of dollars for somebody they don't respect.

In fact I think a lot of the players only play hard for Gruden, and don't really care for the higher ups.

Our O line is an absolute huge problem. Even if it weren’t we are counting on Case Keenum to do what exactly? Our mlb is not strong and a very important piece of the defensive side of things. Our rb’s and wr’s are completely unproven. Guice might be a stud but who knows. AP will run out of gas like last year - probably sooner with a weaker o line. Our special teams has been absolutely God awful because we hired a God awful ST coach to come in for some reason. Usually at this point im drowning in kool aid, but this year I am already wondering who we can take with a top 3 pick. Though with Bruce at the helm we will probably trade number 3 for 5 future 7’s. It doesn’t look good at all.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

Sheehan reports the Pats offered their 2020 1st, and the Skins said it's not enough !!!!

To me that's GREAT news !
It means there'd be a price that would be enough, it means they listen to legit offers, it means they want more than a late 1st round pick, it means a 1st+ is likely to be offered! Love it!!!

I doubt anyone will offer more if that is in fact true.

No need to rush things with Trent, someone could get desperate because of an injury and up the offer.

Wow...This is great news. Basically a guaranteed first round pick is the starting point. Beautiful. When u negotiate, the guy putting up the first number becomes the one at the disadvantage

I beg to disagree, I think Sheehan doesn't rush to break news, he rarely breaks news, and/so when he does he usually is accurate.

So I do think his report is legit, and I think putting out there the news that the Pats were willing to give a 1st could make other teams think about doing the same.

I know NFL's FOs aren't regular fans, but tell me knowing Belichik and Cie were OK with giving a 1st isn't going to legitimate the idea that TW is worth a 1st in the eyes of the league ? It sure would in the eyes of many fans, and in some instances perception is reality. I'd say setting market value is one of these instances.

Agreed 100%, but this is good news as far as leverage for the Skins.

If TW was in his mid 20's then I'd agree w/ you. But he's 30 +, plays 12 games a year and probably wants more money. You're not going to get multiple picks for him. The Pats aren't stupid. They're not dropping their pants like Bruce does on trades.
