We very likely haven't interviewed the top targets yet.

Everyone needs to chill the heck out.

Some people are too caught up in being opinionated know-nothings than actually using any critical thought or trying to understand.

Perhaps they would be more comfortable if they understood that the timing of the interviews we've had so far has been mostly because of NFL rules about when playoff Coordinators can interview. But that would have taken a moderate amount of effort to know and understand.

Sigh.

For Pete's sake. People around here are thinking the world is going to end because Smith and O'Brien are off the board. If the Redskins had chosen too fast you'd be complaining that they didn't do a thorough enough job interviewing all the candidates. Now it's "we are going to be stuck with our fourth or fifth choice". Geez Louise people! Get a grip! The spot has only been vacant since Monday. The week isn't over yet.

Right. I mean we missed out on O'Brien. Sad face...I get it. I liked him too. But there are others available that will be good HCs. As for Tampa. Congrats on your ensuing string of 6 straight 7/8/9 win seasons with a couple first-round playoff losses.

Well put. I see no reason to lose sleep over missing out on Lovie.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

I just don't get why everyone thinks we need a HC with HC experience. Most the current NFL coaches that are having success didn't. We have gone through so many retreads, and really never have given an unproven guy much time to develop (Spurrier, Zorn ; pretty sure they wouldnt have, but look at Gibbs slow start). I'm glad there aren't many "experienced" HC out there to confuse this search. I want a young guy that Our young talent can relate to, will listen to, and will play their hearts out for. I want a guy that will get creative and adjust game plans and schemes based on circumstance and available talent. I want someone with those intangible leadership skills, someone with "it". I don't know what "it" is, but I think that is really what matters when choosing a HC when the "experienced" pool is running dry or not what your looking for. I hope Bruce knows what "it" looks like, and that he finds someone who has it.

Anyways, chill out, these are only the first few interviews. I have a feeling I ought to watch the playoffs this year (usually don't care if it isn't Skins), chances are that's where our future coach is.

I really like what McDermott's players had to say about him.

See, Yeah, I like that. If nothing else this is why he is deserving of an interview.

Briles shouldn't even be considered. And i dont get what the hype around Bevell is. The Seahawks aren't known for offense and after everything I have read I certainly don't get the interest.

McDermott seems a better choice if it were between the 2

Ive watched Baylor several times this year, each time i come away disappointed. Briles doesnt care a damn bit about defense. I dont think he is close to NFL ready head coach.

I have no idea why his name is even being mentioned. I doubt the Redskins are even interested. Just rumors flying....

Also...funny how when Cousins was asked who he'd like as the next head coach he says.." well that will be up to Mr. Snyder and Robert"....lol.

That is why they should part ways with him. Let him see how good the rest of the NFL thinks he is.

There are still a lot of great candidates working in the playoffs. Including Ken Whisenhut and Jay Gruden.

True, after this weekend at least one of them comes available to interview as will (potentially) Greg Roman and Pete Charmichael (Saints OC). There's really no serious rush to hire a coach today. Most of us are just so ready to shed the past era, we want swift resolution so we can focus on something (and someone) else.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

Right now, it's between Sean McDermott and Darrell Bevell for me. Bevell would be very good for RGIII, but I really like the thoughts of Sean McDermott. The only concern for me would be who he gets as OC.
