Yeah, both these candidates seem fairly pedestrian to me. Are any other teams even talking to them? Are they the only ones who have picked up the phone?

Bevell is a hot name. Connected to multiple jobs. McDermott put together a terrible defense in Philly just a couple of years ago. No to him.

Is there any interest in Gregg Williams from the team?

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

I know Bevell will be a hot name this year, he was last year too. Only thing I remember about McDermott was him being Jim Johnson's replacement in Philly a couple years ago, and he was shitty enough at it to be replaced after 1 season. Not exactly an inspiring candidate for me, although the Panthers d is decent I suppose.

Gruden shows a lot more imaginiation and diversity in scheme but I get the strong feeling he doesn't want to come here.
With the McDermott interview, which is interesting, it does raise the thought of HC-McDermott, OC-Chudzinski.
What have you heard about Jay Gruden that gives you that feeling?

I hope that's not the case because I like to see him take an interview with the Skins. He seems to be one of the better HC candidates.

More of a small town guy, may not embrace the DC "scene", low profile-low drama. Also if it was such a perfect fit, especially with the Allen ties, it seems like we would have moved quicker to interview him. I could be off but its just a sense.

He is a small town guy, and his preference would not be DC but there are only so many HC jobs and he feels he's ready. So I wouldn't shut the door on him being our HC quite yet. I think he's the odds on favorite personally

Also, he can't be interviewed before next week because the Bengals have a game this weekend

It seems impossible that we would......not have been having under the table conversations with the agents of anyone we are interested in.
Regardless of the NFL rules

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

How come there hasn't been much discussion of Mike Zimmer? Did I miss something? Of all the coordinators he seems to have the best track record over a good period of time. He has experience in the 3-4 and the 4-3. He has always been loved by his players and seems (imo) to have the "it" that a HC needs? Any thoughts?

Who knows, he could be on the radar. McDermott kinda came out of nowhere so you can never tell. With a game coming up this weekend he can't be interviewed until next week though.

Would Zimmer be willing to uproot his family and move to DC?

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

Different approach:

Fact 1: We sucked badly with coaches
Fact 2: Coaches cost money
Conclusion: Working without coaches can´t make us suck more and saves money
Decision: No more coaches
