Re: On the Cusp - Post Game Thread

Saw something on FB I missed during the game; Sainristil on the INT. He goes after Pickens like a fighter. He didn't just want to hold up, he wanted to lay him out. I really like the kid.

There's also an article on Riggo's Rag suggesting Quinn should have punted on 4th instead of hoping for it. 3 TO's and time on the clock. I get their point, but I think this is Quinn's nature. Does he need a voice of reason in his ear or let him do his thing?

I think you want the ball in JD5's hand. The play before the 4th and 9 Jayden was a shoestring acrobatic tackle away from about a 20 yard run. Cosmi said he could have anticipated better, but really the Steelers are an excellently coached team and they made stops other teams won't.

We need a strong run stopping situational substitute for 99. Desperately.
Interesting observation as I remembered when he was signed he was supposed to be good against the run but not much of a pass rusher. I had not noticed because one thing I do notice is the camera angles today make it impossible to read the numbers of the DL players as they line up. I was watching the game again last night and froze the pic as they were at the line, not one number was visible

As this is the case it makes it very difficult for me to know who is in the game at DL as they rotate, and the only way I know someone made a play is if they made a play and you can read the number then.

Yup! And to add Pitt went for it on 4th down to keep the ball out of JD5 hands at the end (they may have not snapped )

Go straight to 5:45 mark of this video,#99 Clelin Ferrell is the stand up Right DE top of the screen and he gets knocked on his ass by a TE Gerald Everett. One guy took him out. As the DE on that side of the line he is solely responsible for setting the edge on a running play and directing the runner inside. Big Fail. That play was preventable if he read it correctly. That is basic. Stopping the run is critical.

PT.2

Go to 3:09 of this video. #99 Right DE again top of screen gets moved like he is on roller skates, but this time it was a OT which a little more understanding, but he puts up no fight. If you pause it at 3:12 you will see he has been moved and turned around. This is a trend. Other teams have seen this and if #99 is in they will run right over him.
Efe Obada #97 is the perfect powerful DE/DT that should be in on goal line and running downs. But I believe we cut him and have nothing but pass rushing DE's. Correct me if I am wrong.
