Man I love Ryan Clark. Talking about the brawl:

Quote:
"That's fun. That's just part of the game," Redskins safety Ryan Clark said. "When two teams are fighting hard to win, they're protecting their teammates. ... Those guys were feisty; we were feisty. We're all grown me. We all have egos and we all want to be the alpha male. That's what it was about. That's cool. If we see those guys, we'll shake their hands because they played better than us."
Nick Foles hit sparks brawl in game between Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins - ESPN

One of the two biggest "under the radar" mistakes of the Vinny era was letting him go and signing Adam "Mr. Softie" Archuletta (other was letting Antonio Pierce walk).

It was dumb play by Baker and a cheap shot. Baker and Breeland both dropped gift INTs that coulda lead to a win, Clark should be pissed.

This team is 1-2 and people still think they're some juggernaut that's about to break loose. Nope. This isn't college football where a close loss might still give you some points in the standings. This is the NFL and there are no moral victories. Just another bad loss.
What you said. I've grown accustomed to this team losing and can generally shake off bad losses, but this one made me sick. Philly is a legit team and we had them dead to rights, but losing has become so much a part of the DNA for this team.

They simply can't get out of their own way and will find ways to lose more often than not. And now the Giants come to town after trouncing a team we lost to in week 1. These guys need to grow the hell up in a hurry.

The missed interceptions pissed me off. People pointing to the Cousins interception as one of the reasons we lost, as if no bonafide starter ever throws an interception, are idiots. Foles should have thrown 2 and no one says he should be a backup. I'll take 3 TDs to 1 INT anytime. Any team would.

3. Why couldn't we get a sack? Was last week a mirage? Were their receivers just getting open too quickly? Is Foles Jake the Snake incarnate?
4. Perry Reily needs to work on coverage, badly!
5. Did Merriweather even play today?
6. I was boosted for DJax and his F U touchdown!
7. Redskins are starting to look like a contender, if they could just get out of there own way.
8. I can't wait for South Park, sh#% looks funny as hell!
9. We want NY!
Edit: 10. Cage Match: Saden vs. Gary84Clark, two crazies go in, one comes out! I'm taking bets.

For the record, I'm team Redskins, I don't care who wins the starting QB job in the long run as long as winning games comes first! Bruce and Jay are gonna have one hell of a decision to make in a few weeks, and however this plays out it will be the defining decision of this Front Office.
#2 Cousins is still a guy with only 5 starts under his belt. We may find out Garçon ran the wrong route on that last play, but I agree they have to get in field goal range and will reserve judgement on KC until everyone finishes their film breakdown. Even if it's on him, he still played a great game and was THE main reason they were even in the game. Team RG3 gets the doors blown off. If KC keeps playing like this, the job is his. If he happens to improve, which is entirely plausible, fuh-get about it!

Keim on Cousins:

Quote:
Cousins completed 30 of 48 passes for 427 yards and three touchdowns. Yes, there was an interception. Yes, he cooled off in the second half. In fact, according to ESPN Stats & Information, Cousins was 3-of-11 for 68 yards and an interception when the Eagles sent five pass-rushers or more in the second half.
Redskins QB Kirk Cousins shines against Philadelphia Eagles - ESPN

If Cousins is kept relatively clean, he is great - rhythm passer, anticipates the route. When rushed, he throws at the receiver without the anticipation. Expect a LOT of blitzes Thursday night.

Thats a good stat and probably would see similar stats from a QB making his 5th start. I know on one of those throw Roberts got his head and hands around late on a perfectly placed pass. Anticpation on a blitz works both ways, WR have to cut off routes quicker and be ready to make a catch.

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

Reading twitter can really give me a headache. A couple things I don't understand from fans after the game yesterday. First the fan that feels they have to talk up rg3 almost in defense because if Kirk solid play and tear down Kirk in the process. And then the fan that wants to talk up Kirk one game this year to tear down rg3.

Re: Skins vs. Eagles Post-Game

I feel bad the 'skins lost, especially to the Eagles. But at the same time, I don't feel too badly about the loss. I actually felt this team continued to progress - with the exception of special teams. No Eagles fan can truly come out of yesterday's game feeling like they don't need to look over their shoulder. They will not win the division outright. It's still going to come down to the last couple of weeks of the season.

Cousins played fantastic, again. And even though Morris didn't have a great day, the dude fights for yards, and anything, he put a pounding on the Eagles' defense. This team is going to continue to improve as the season progresses. It's not going to take Gruden long to have this team winning the division and in the playoffs on a consistent basis.

Yes, once again everyone played fantastic except when it really mattered...

You can be darn sure that other teams will learn from that.

Yeah. It's like watching the game I never got excited, not once. I had a pretty strong feeling they'd blow it somehow. Even with the offense tearing Philly apart in the first half. That was a perfect example. By all accounts it seemed like the Redskins were kicking their butts all half, but....they went into the locker room trailing.

It's always something. The offense plays great (and let's face it, Jacksonville's and Philly's defense leave a lot to be desired, so we'll see if this pace continues) and the defense and special teams screw it up. Or it's the other way around, etc.

What frustrates me is all the talk in the media and from fans about how it was a good effort and they showed fight, etc. It was a loss...in the NFL you don't get style points, you need wins. No matter how ugly. Stupid mental lapses on defense and stupid penalties doom this team all the time.

They sure show a lot of cockiness (Jackson's dancing, the ball spinning every time someone catches an eight-yard pass, cheap shots and pointing) for a team that's won one game (over a horrid Jax team) out of their last 11 going back to last year. They better get to work fast this week and stop patting themselves on the back or NY will come in here and surprise them.

I don't know what you're watching. He's been blitzed plenty and, for the most part, he's gotten the ball out quickly and made the Defense pay. I hope the Giants blitz. I think they'll get punished for it.

Some of his inaccurate passes had nothing to do with pressure.

When a QB throws 48 times there's going to be an INT or two. Do people realize this? We dropped two by Foles. Also with that many attempts there's going to be sacks. Oh wait...

For a guy making his 5th start and is still getting use to all the 1st team WR's, KC was outstanding yesterday. What QB's yesterday played better than he did? Luck? Maybe Foles? And speaking of Foles, he's one hell of a QB.
