Re: Around the NFL-Week 1

I just doubt the penalty would be enforced against Mara.

Re: Around the NFL-Week 1

All the teams get daily reports. I am willing to bet that if DSnyder and JJ saw Mara's team over the line, even for a day without an extension prior to the deadline, they would be pumping all the owners up to get a penalty enforced. And I don't think Mara would be immune from 24 other owners, otherwise he has got to have one helluva picture collection, if you know what I mean .

There have been teams penalized in the past for being over the cap. The 49ers got hit one year and lost a 5th in what was the current year and a 3rd the next year. But that was around 10 years ago. They were also fined but it wasnt some huge amount.

Savior at QB of the Raiders...Matt McGloin!?!?!?

Terrelle Pryor doubted inside Raiders' organization - NFL.com

Quote:
According to Silver, there are voices in the organization who believe McGloin gives the Raiders the best chance to win.

McGloin, we'll remind you, is an undrafted, completely unheralded, rookie. These are dark days, even by Black Hole standards.

Wow. This guy was horrible at Penn State...hence why he wasn't drafted by anyone.

Wasn't he picked up by us as a UDFA really early on in the offseason?

Re: Around the NFL-Week 1

OK, he turned down our offer because he knew he had zero chance here.

Then he spent a few days in Panthers tryouts and didn't make it. Oakland then signed him for 3 years.

According to the article, he turned down a UDFA contract with another team to attend our mini camp. The team that offered him the contract was similar to us, a few to many good QB's so he chose to come to the Redskins mini camp because he thought working with the Shanny's would help him.

"Quarterback Matt McGloin turned down one team's free-agent contract offer to to attend Washington Redskins mini-camp this weekend, his agent said Tuesday."

Thats the opening sentence of the first article you posted.

Giants restructured contracts of Chris Snee and Steve Weatherford to get under cap yesterday.

Yep, you're right...skimmed too fast.

So he turned down a team to come HERE and thought he had a chance?

According to the article, he came here because he wanted to work with the Shanny's. He felt that was a good move even though he doubted he would ever make our team. He was doing it more for development is what it sounds like.

Re: Around the NFL-Week 1

Geno Smith doesn't think watching tape on Revis is 'necessary' - CBSSports.com

The Jets wasted a 2nd round pick on a QB that doesn't think he needs to watch game film. I think the funnier thing is, he's taking advice from Mark Sanchez.....LOLOLOLOL

Quote:
Smith said he doesn't "think it's necessary" to watch tape on Revis before he goes up against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

"I mean, I don't think it's necessary," Smith said. "Maybe I will, maybe I won't. You pretty much get the idea of what kind of player he is based on his reputation."

I remember all these Geno fanboys out there talking about how great his work ethic was, and how much of a film rat he was at WV. Smoke blown up the public asses to get this guy drafted much higher. Seems the NFL teams got the real scoop on his work ethic. Can't wait to watch him implode under his own ego.

Take the over on Jets vs Tampa...take the way over. I expect a 40-10 type score
