49ers dominated the game from the first snap and we had no chance from the beginning.
I agree that our 11 points were garbage but I don't agree that we were dominated at all. That game was there for the taking with even an average QB performance. The defense kept the game reasonably close and there were plays to be made on offense all over that field but our QB never even tried to make them...

This game and the comments afterwards by Shanahan confirm we are in full rebuild mode. There is truly no reason to go back to Grossman at this point, he is who he is. While Beck has the potential to be historically bad, there's not a significant downside to letting him play out the final 10 games. The only benefit to Grossman is we may see what Hankerson, Paul and Helu can do with a middling QB.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

But isn't that worth it? These guys are supposed to be our future but with Beck continuing to play like complete doo-doo it's hard to see how they can learn to be effective, especially Hankerson and Paul.

I would give Beck one more game, but whether he starts or not has nothing to do with rebuilding. Beck is not the QB of the future and if there is a benefit to WR development with Grossman, so be it. Although I must say that regardless of who is under center, it is going to be fugly with our toughest stretch of the schedule coming up after the Miami game.

I felt with John Beck at the helm, from snap one, I had zero confidence in him pulling out a victory.

I think that this is one reason why we have lost 4 straight. The team seems to have lost its fight and energy. It seems reasonable to presume that a lack of faith in Beck by the players might have something to do with the loss of pizzazz.

I never thought that I would say it but I would like Wrecks to start. Then if/when we are eliminated, it's Crompton time!

We won more with Vinny

I give Beck one more game, if no improvement, then time to move on to Crompton. In the remainder of the season, the young WRs and Crompton may begin to develop some timing.

We don't know what our QB situation will be next year, but it should most certainly not involve Rex & Beck.

Guys, is there really anything there with Crompton? Or are we just really grasping?

It's the latter. If Crompton really had anything, he'd be on the active roster. I trust that the coaches evaluate the players in practice, and if Crompton was doing any better than Beck or Grossman he'dve been called up by now.

Crompton looked ok in the preseason. Not terrible, not great. Had some fine throws mixed with some ghastly ones. And none of us here have seen him throw a pass as a Redskin. So, yeah, some grasping is going on.

That said, we know that Beck and Wrecks are not the future. Therefore we should test drive Rockytop once we are eliminated and no harm to our season can be done. Maybe he is not our future. But he's the only QB we have who MIGHT be.

Goodness, I must have been asleep during the preseason. When did Crompton play?

And can we just bring back Clemens and Chappell while we're at it?

He played against us week 4 as a Buccaneer.

Agree. We are 3-5 with games remaining against Dall-ass, Iggles, NYG, NYJ, Pats. Is there anything to indicate we can go 3-2 in those games? Even at 3-2 there and sweeping MIA, SEA, MINN that leaves us at 9-7. I don't think 9-7 gets us in the playoffs this year.

We are not a playoff team, I agree with the youth movement. We need to evaluate and get the youngsters on the field to build towards 2012. Maybe Crompton can be a solid QB, or even a solid backup, let's take a look. He won't be worse than Rex & Beck have been....and even if he is neither Rex/Beck give us a realistic chance to win games.
