Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

While Albert makes more sense as a DE in a 3-4, my intuition he's much more valuable to the team as DT in a 4-3 scheme. At DT he takes two inside blockers, often times freeing up edge rushers. As a DE the offense will likely just keep a tackle and TE or FB to keep Albert at bay, leaving the rest of the oline intact. So I would say he's much more disruptive at DT, because let's face it he's not ever gonna be a speed edge rusher.

I don't see us having near the pieces in place to run a 3-4. Unless you count on Jarmon becoming a stud overnight we're missing 2 guys up front and at least 1 guy at LB. That's a lot of talent going to the defense when we basically need 2 starting OTs, a RB and possibly a QB just to be competitive again on offense.

Maybe we use a 4-3 when albert is in then switch to a 3-4 on breathers for the big man.

Re: Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

Well the reports were Shanahan was interested in the 3-4 or 3-4 hybrid. So I would guess as others have said we would be running a 3-4 hybrid. I think thats what Baltimore does and now the Jets. If we can get Haslett to emulate these two defensive scheme's then we are going to be great. I think if he simply comes out and runs a pure 3-4 defense we might be screwed cause as again others have said we don't have all the pieces. A hybrid would be a smooth transition and maybe better anyway. More to confuse the offenses with.

As long as Blache is gone I don't care what kind of defense we run.

i love how the giants wanted haslett and we got him...and i agree with the dude saying use the 4-3 with AH in the game and 3-4 when he needs a breather...which hopefully won't be every other play.

I'm definitely wondering what this move was made for though.. I mean Haslett couldn't get another NFL job, at least not one he was willing to take.. not even a DC spot anywhere that he could've landed?

Guys I know this sounds crazy but take this for a thought...3-4 and 4-3 Jims used both.....Jim is probably going to run both!
