All over the US there are husbands cheating on wives and wives cheating on husbands. The fact that people spend so much time discussing Tiger's cheating saddens me because those people actually elevate famous people like Woods above the rest of us. All because he's in the public eye.

Seriously, who gives a flying eff if he cheated on Elin, or lied about it. He's just another guy cheating on his wife. That isn't news. I don't give a crap about his reputation, I don't give a crap about his image, the only thing I care about when it comes to Tiger Woods is watching him chase history as a golfer.

Charles Barkley said it best, "I am not a role model." People need to stop looking up to athletes and celebrities for anything other than the entertainment they provide. Until then, the masses glued to the tube clamoring for every rumor and piece of news will continue to look like trashy housewives who can't miss an episode of their trashy soap opera.

I've got better things to do with my life than give a shit if Tiger Woods is cheating on his wife. And the news has more important stories to air.
Generally speaking I share your sentiment from top to bottom. It's nobody's business and why should we care. But with a person of Woods' stature, his personal life, rightfully or wrongfully, is also Tiger Woods. Tiger and his team have put as much effort, time, and money maintaining and selling a manicured image, if you will, as he has put into his golf swing. Everytime someone purchases Nike, Buick, Amex or flies to Augusta because of Tiger Woods, they're buying a piece of Tiger Woods or the idea of Tiger Woods. In many ways he isn't even a person, he's a product. So on one hand, yes, who gives a flying a flip. But on the other hand, he's not just another Joe running around cheating on his wife.

The controversy isn't entirely about him screwing around, sure that's part of it. But in some perverted way the public, and mainly the media, are saying, hey, this product has some defects; it's flawed and someone has to account for it. Is that fair, of course not. Is it where we are as a culture and society, absolutely.

I guess I'm not like most people, and that's why I'm frustrated and can't understand why people care. Because if I'm going to buy a Buick, you can bet you're ass I don't give a flying eff if Tiger's associated, I would only buy it if it rated well by consumer reports and I liked driving it.

I do play Nike golf balls, but not because of Tiger. I play them because I gave them a shot and like the way they feel coming off my club.

I'm not influenced by celebrity or marketing or branding. I could give a crap. So I get what you're saying, lots of people are influenced by those things. I guess I'm just saying I find that pathetic.

Gotta call you on this. So what influences you to buy Nike over another company? You're probably influenced more than you realize or what to admit.

People cheat on their wives/husbands for many reasons. It's not right and I feel horrible for Elin. It's a very embarrassing situation. But we're not inside their marriage. Maybe she wasn't doing things for Tiger that she use to do. Or maybe she isn't a good wife. Or maybe he just couldn't control himself cause he get can any pussy he wants. I'm willing to bet it's the ladder. I just think that if you know you're weak when it comes to women then simply don't get married. Derek Jeter is one of the smartest athletes out there.

while jon and kate getting a divorce shoudln't get any air time i fell like this story is on a whole other level. this isn't just some random sports figure, this guy is an icon and the biggest name in sports right now hands down. and the reason his name is so big is because of the image he presents himself in, now it appears that this image is false and he has basically lied to the whole world, which upsets and offends a lot of people.

Basically I said that "it is a shame" that this....tawdry BS has become the substitute for news. For something meaningful. It is an indicator of how shallow, and meaningless we have become.

News is no longer the 30 minute evening broadcast with Peter Jennings (RIP). It's 24 hours across thousands of tv channels, radio stations, web sites, magazines, and newspapers. That's one reason why you have more and more stories like this. Besides, not all news needs to be hard hitting, Pulitzer prize winning journalism.

I agree, either do it the right away and get a divorce, or don't get married in the first place. If you want to bang skanks go ahead, but why get married and have kids??
