Thanks SS for clearing up that we have all of our draft picks. I thought we lacked a 4th rounder (wiping the egg off of my face).

Yeah, I thought I was wrong but it turned out I was right so I guess I was wrong?

Bottom line, we don't have a 4th round pick. Thought we didn't, then I thought we did...but we don't

Josh Johnson projects as a 3rd pick right now on USA Today. To me that means that he's either going in the 2nd round or the 5th. Either way projecting where QB's are going to fall after the top 10 seems quite troublesome.

Re: Make Your Day Two Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 3-7)

I'll post a few profiles of guys I would like to get a look in the third round. This guy reminds me of Antwaan Odom.

Wallace Gilberry
DE | (6'2", 263, 4.95) | ALABAMA

Scouts Grade: 62View by: Player | NCAA School | Position | NFL Team | Flag | All Ranked Players | NFL Draft History You are signed into Insider and have access to the exclusive draft content below.
Strengths: Possesses adequate-to-good height and bulk. Is tough, aggressive and active versus the run. Hands continue to improve and he does a decent job of getting off blocks, finding the ball and pursuing. Generally displays good leverage out of his stance. He is a good open-field tackler for his position. Displays good initial pop and will stand some OT's up with his short area explosiveness. He displays some quality power moves as a pass rusher. Plays with a great motor. Excellent experience at the highest collegiate level. He also has been exceptionally durable and reliable throughout his career.

Weaknesses: Lacks any elite qualities. Does not display good top-end speed or closing burst as a pass rusher. Will struggle to turn the corner as an edge rusher and will never be much of a threat in that facet of the game. Plays power-DE in college but does not possess elite size and will need to improve his base in order to contribute as a situational run-plugger type. Gets good initial pop but will struggle to anchor versus bigger, stronger OT's.

Overall: Gilberry was redshirted when he arrived in 2003. During his first three seasons (2004-06) he played in 37 games (25 starts) and recorded 108 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. Gilberry is a tough, aggressive, durable and reliable college player that continues to improve each season. He will give a great effort and maximizes his skills. He is at his best versus the run and should find a way to contribute for a NFL team on a sub-package basis. However, Gilberry will never be much of a threat as a pass rusher and he lacks any special physical qualities to get excited about when projecting him to the next level. Even if he maximizes his tools in the NFL he will never be more than a situational run-stopping reserve. As such, Gilberry projects as a mid-round pick in 2008.

So you don't want to take a receiver AT ALL in the draft?

I have to stop kidding around so much. Letting people know that I'm messing around is becoming a full time job for you SmootSmack.

In all seriousness I think the key to finding out who the Redskins will take on day 2 will be finding out who are the most coachable guys with extremly productive careers, while being short on measureables. HB Blades is a prime example of that. I think Vinny said that he averaged 150 tackles a year when he started at Pitt, but don't hold me to that.

In fact Vinny said that they mainly target productive players with average-measureables on day 2. So if you're looking who the Redskins might take on day 2 look at the stats instead of the 40 times.

cooley had over 1200 yards receiving as a fullback and went in the 3rd round (though as a "fullback", all he did was run routes and catch passes).

reed doughty was the same way. GREAT college production... I called him to the skins in the 6th about 2 months before the draft :P

makes me wish i really didn't have to miss 90% of last years FA/senior bowl/combine/pro days/draft with other obligations
