I'm just saying let's not be so quick to brush aside the thought that perhaps GW has some blame in this. |

are you kidding? I just supplied the same example as you. I gave you a quote from the washington post, JLC who has been pretty accurate. I provided additional information to the post "saying GW and Vinny are very close, and the addtional meetings were to see if GW and Vinny could work together. Danny is not going to get rid of Vinny - if that means not hiring the right guy for the job, then that is exactly what danny will do. you people kill me, you always ask for links or articles, I provided the article saying privately endorsing GW, and for some reason you think its not good enough. When has Joe ever done anything in the media?? never. Why do you think he would come out and say it on this subject. He isn't going to do that because then it puts Danny on the spot. And that is just not Joe Gibbs. |

Yea, he's keeping it very quite. To me that implies, all or most all of the coachs need to be looking for work. Because the NEW HC won't be GW. Get ready for the FOSSIL & whoever he brings in with him. If GW was getting the job he would have it NOW IMO. I hope I'm wrong, just have a bad feeling that the club is regressing back to the same ole shit!

Re: Redskins assistants upset and getting grief in Mobile
who cares if we are called a laughingstock, how gay.... i love what snyder is doing right now.. we had gibbs and williams for four years and it got us to the playoffs twice and both times we could have easily missed those. i like the fact we can rebuild the coaching staff and keep our core players. i want continuity as well, but a change is a risk that could put us over the edge. i dont in particular like saunders as our OC and i have always liked fassel. Zorn and Fassel could help Campbell out more than what saunders has been doing... (protecting) campbell. i think snyder is wanting to help campbell out with these moves... fassel and zorn our great qb groomers and rex ryan is a great DC. i love williams and want him to stay, but i dont see it happening if fassel gets the HC position, so i would love to take rex ryan.

This is ridiculous. When the assistant coaches are getting worked up over coaches, they have to grow some.

Re: Redskins assistants upset and getting grief in Mobile
GW, to his credit, wanted to fire Vinny (Danny's fluffer) and replace him with a real GM -- someone who actually knows about football, who understands how the salary cap works, and who would give GW a chance win. Floyd Reese -- GW's friend from his Tennessee days -- would've fit the bill quite nicely.
Of course, then, who would provide Danny with, uh, favors? |

Re: Redskins assistants upset and getting grief in Mobile
I think this would be easier for us to take if Snyder had a better track record. There is something to be said for going in the opposite direction of the obvious, as the Steelers proved this last year. But the fact remains that Snyder's tenure has been largely disastrous and he hasn't earned the right to make this kind of counter-intuitive move while escaping severe scrutiny. If Fassel works out and is great then we'll all say, wow, Snyder went with his gut and it was the right move. But until then, and especially given how out of leftfield this move is, Snyder is going to get killed and deservedly so.

Re: Redskins assistants upset and getting grief in Mobile
You know we were laughing at how bad the cowboys were the last few years and they couldn't win a playoff game. You know imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. There is no reason that the redskins couldn't emulate a model like the eagles or the patriots have. There is no reason that they couldn't do that, but yet they have this incredible ego that is really taking this franchise in the wrong direction. I am tired of losing and tired of hearing about how we are the doormats of the NFC East. I am also tired of being the cash register for Dan Snyder. We keep buying his products, hats, jerseys, shirts and the like and what has it gotten us? Yes, we made the playoffs 2/4 years that Gibbs was here. We could have continued our progress, but instead we are more than likely going to hire a guy who hasn't been a head coach in four years and he was fired from his last post to worst offense in the league! Prior to that our last playoff appearance was in 1999. So three appearances in the playoffs in the last 16 years. That is just great. We have spent so much money and it has gotten us squat. It makes me sad, because I saw how this once proud franchise used to dominate and be involved in the conversation of winning a championship and now we are looked at for off season drama. Everyone wants to know who the new coach is, or who the new free agents we have, or how many draft picks we traded away to get some player. I am tired of hearing that Dan Snyder wants to win. If he wants to win, he needs to look at other successful teams and emulate what they do instead of trying to be like Jerry Jones and being meddlesome. The only reason that Jerry Jones was successful was because of Jimmy Johnson period. Hire Ron Wolf, Mr. Snyder! Get out of the way and let him hire the coach. You write the checks and cash all the windfall profits once the team starts to win.
