Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
The entire D was a big mess last year, look no further than that for the reason why Taylor struggled. He struggled just like the entire unit did.

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
Taylor playing over the top is possible b/c we have Springs, Smoot, Rogers on the corner. Couldn't do that last year with injuries and no names on the corner. This guy Landry was rated higher than Taylor and supposed to hit harder, I'll have to see about that one.
This duo is going to be amazing to watch........ Taylor has his best year as a Skin b/c of this draft pick. |

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
1st round DTs don't have a very high bust rate compared to DE/WR/QB. Especially not in the top 15 or so.
I wasn't very happy with the pick either (though i did, surprisingly, get base lib just in time to catch a couple hours of the draft's first round), but it is what it is now. our DL isn't good, but the LBs look alright and the DB depth is truly insane (macklin as a #4, stoutmire as the #4 safety/#6 CB, etc). thanks for the links. hopefully GW's figured out how to fix a VERY lackluster defense with the pieces at hand.... at the very least he's bumped carlos back the nickel and removed holdman from the field, which is an extra 7 points a game we won't need to score right there. |

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
Maybe even more than 7, most of our opponents last season made sure it was in their gameplans to run at Holdman and throw at Rogers. On any given game between the two of them they could have been responsible for all the points scored.

Rogers will start and be our #1 by the end of the year. Mark it down.

With the way that he has playted over the last 2 seasons, that scares the living crap out of me. No way he is a number 1 corner right now. I actually think that right now he is falling out of contention of being a number 2 cornerback

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
The guy is just coming into his 3rd year. Will he ever be a shut-down corner? probably not. Does that mean he cant be a good quality number 1 corner? No.
Give the guy some time to develop. With that said, this is the year. By the end of the year he is as good as he is gonna be. (3 years in the same system right out of college is not something a lot of players get to experience in this league).

Re: Sean Taylor at Free Safety and LaRon Landry at Strong Safety
I just don't see Rogers developing into a true #1 corner, but I'd love to be wrong on this. I'd be happy if he could just be a quality #2 at this point.

He hasn't shown very much to date to think that he's going to suddenly become a shutdown corner. |
