Your right Joe, My prayers are for the families, and the slain. It does not seem possible that this can happen..........

The government can't "fix" this. I do think the parents of shooters should be held liable for their children's actions. Who f*cking raises monsters like these? People sends their kids to school to learn not have your f'ed up kid kill them.

Re: At Least 20 Dead in Va. Tech Shooting

There is no reasonable way to explain/prevent this from happening socially.

School's nationwide will crackdown, and metal detectors entering dorms and classrooms will and should be instituted. This is not a policy flaw, to suggest that is just wrong.

No-one will be able to get answers for this. There is no valid reason for this to happen. There are crazy people in this world, and this highlights that.

If the f*cked up kid is paranoid and psychotic then his parents have nothing to do with it!! It's an illness that should have been diagnosed and treated, but the laws are too lax and they let the sick take care of themselves! As the medical people say "You can be as crazy as you want as long as you don't hurt anyone". Well, by then it's too late!!!

cancel class after the first murder, not wait around like a dumb university. as far as im concerned the university bear some responsability. if they cancel class, many more people are probably still alive.

For some reason I don't think discussing the the state of the mental health laws and gun control laws is what we should be dojng at this point. Maybe tomorrow but for ow I think we should stick to the news and prayers. We can argue over causation tomorrow.

What a shame, this is a senseless tragedy. May GOD be with all the families and students during this horrible time.

May GOD BLESS YOU ALL

From what I have heard from some initial reports is that the shootings were un-related, and the first guy is in custody.

There's a lot of mis-information out there... So it's really impossible to judge what when on right now.

Re: At Least 20 Dead in Va. Tech Shooting

Making people more accountable for who they allow into a restricted dormitory would a good start.

As tragic as this story is, you got to realize that the last time something like this happened on such a comparable scale was 40 years ago. That's a lot of students at a lot of colleges and universities that have lived in relative safety during their time in school.

Any idea when those classes started? If it was an early class like 8:00 then students are already in the classroom. Once the school is in lockdown don't you have to remain in the classroom until your building is cleared by security.

What the local news is reporting is that the shooter killed himself and that there was only one shooter. They also reported that students were jumping out of the windows to get away from the shooter. There is also currently 29 others who are in the various regional hospitals being treated for gunshot wounds and other wounds related to today's event. They have also said that it was actually 31 people, including the shooter who died today, and not 32. So, there is a total of nearly 60 people killed or wounded.
