So Marshall isn't a product of the system? Two guys who aren't products of the system are Carter and Archuletta. Both were bad before they came here and they remain bad.

When Springs is in, they know he's a veteran that has played consistently, so they avoid him. Are you saying other teams believe Rodgers is our worst corner, and therefore "victimizing" him is the result? No, that's where they see the biggest mismatch. Where Sean Taylor is on the field can help also play a role. Regardless, my point was that you can't assume Rodgers is worse than Rumph or Wright because other teams are picking on him. They're exploiting the biggest mismatch in the defense and thats why they're going after him.

My comment was being critical of you praising Pierce with defensive ranking. I think that's way to broad of a catagory to attribute to one player. The redskins defense falling down the rank doesn't necessarily point as a direct result from Pierce's departure either. Team rankings aren't a consistent enough statistic to assume that one player leaving directly impacted the ranking of the team the following year. Theres too many variables, including other defenses improving from year to year. I don't feel that's an impossible concept to grasp, and I apoligize if I was being too vague.

I'm sorry if I offended you, I simply was disagreeing with the methods you used to prove your point.
I hate it when I overlook simple answers to convoluted arguments.

Look at the points allowed for all 3 (and that includes the td's that Brunell would hand the opposing D on a weekly basis). As Lionel Hutz woud say, "Case closed your honor".

Re: Adam Archuleta

skipping the entirety of the thread, and having no idea what you guys are arguing about, I'd like to say that I seriously think we're jumping the gun on how bad he sucks. Several players looked somewhat lousy when first inserted into this D and they have developed. I met Archuletta a long time ago in AZ, and he seemed like good peeps. I really hope he gets his form and our scheme melded the way he needs to and we have a better tandem than Taylor and Clark (who I do miss, by the way... he's laid some wood this year with the steelers).

Besides, this is his girlfriend:

Re: Adam Archuleta

you hear all the workout stuff, but this is impressive:

When Archuleta began the Evo-Sport program, he benched 265 pounds in 2.76 seconds in the concentric or ascending phase of the lift. He squatted 273 in 3.47 seconds, ran the 40 in 4.79-4.81 and had a 26-inch vertical jump. Today, his personal best in the bench press is 530 pounds in 1.09 seconds and in the squat, 663 pounds in 1.24 seconds. At an individual workout for NFL scouts, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds and jumped 39 inches vertically.

No, I work at a Japanese Jr. High School, which is probably worse than a monestary

I didn't say that Marshall wasn't a product of GW's system.

I feel like we should look into signing a good cover safety or trading for one. What do you guys think?
Patience please. I don't think that the Redskins have developed their character yet. The same can be said for AA as a Redskin. There is not sufficient input yet for me to make a sound judgement on several of our new players. This team has yet to come together.

My hope is that he will soon become the player in our defense that he has the potential to be.

We couldve used the McIntosh PICKS(we gave away more picks to move up...) for reserve Linemen and DB's

Archuleta Needs to grasp the defence a little better. I still have hope for him but he reminds me alot of Stanley Richards

The one thing I dont agree with you on is drafting merriman over rogers. If we didnt have rogers we would have Rumph and Wright starting right now...
Merriman is a system linebacker who is only good at Filling a gap. He would never get on the field as a redskin. He is doing in San Diego what Lavar did for us when Schotty was coaching the skins. Put him on another team, He is just a solid big ass linebacker kinda like Kirkland of the steeler( 90's). You will never see his slow ass in coverage.
Lavar never rushed the passer like Merriman . I watched too many times Lavar get stonewalled by backup TE's ,,, Merriman is almost unblockable . Maybe you are correct about him not being a great fit in GW's 4-3 defence , but im sure we could have lined him up at DE and Lb in some 34 sets and rush the passer . He is much better at getting after the Qb than anything we have had since C. Mann . Wish we had a beast like him .

i second the merriman love. hindsight's 20/20, but man, he'd look good in a skins uniform.
