Re: WTF was that post game thread

I think the he'll play if the doctors say he can shoul not be the determining factor alone. I think it should be which QB gives you a better chance of winning. The argument would be is an 80% Jayden Daniels more effective than a 100% backup? We are learning the answer. He was quite average to me on Sunday, arguably bottom 10. Loyalty in tough times is noble, but at some point you need to make tough decisions and trust your eyes. I personally would have pulled Jayden. But the recent miracle worker event may have blinded him like it has to the fan base. The reality is he has seem to have lost his secret weapon, his legs, and now he looks human. The scheme adjustment also tells you they know he is limited, so the he's fine really means, yeah, we know hes injured but were gunna play him anyways because hes unlikely to make it worse. And yeah, although he cant run with any sort if twitch, and he cant pass accurately, hes still better than Marriota (although Mariotta played very well iff the bench and went up and down the field on a bad team). If Marriotta played in the second half, we may have beaten Philly, thats why we pay him like 10m a year. So yeah, ee lost this game due to coaching primarily. That plus the 4th down go for it

Neither injury should need extensive healing with exclusion from training. If the medics didn't think he could play with either/both injuries, Mariota would have been out there. AP and DQ are not going to risk a franchise QB unnecessarily in the middle of a rebuild season, even if we're doing unexpectedly well. They're not idiots. Players get banged up, its football, and yes it does affect their play. He's getting 3 or 4 good days rest and treatment now before going back into training. I expect him to be in much better playing shape 8 days from now. If they feel he needs more healing time, now we have the opportunity, expect to see him held out of or on light training until Wednesday or Thursday. Something tells me he'll be back a practice as normal, first session. And he'll be fine.
Medics/trainers often clear players as long as the player(s) say they're okay or they can play through the pain. Heck, we saw it with RG3 when he was cleared by team personnel (medics and trainers), as well as by Dr. Andrews. It was transparent RG3 was hurt in our final two regular season games that year versus the Eagles and Cowboys. You could visibly see on read options as he was practically dragging his injured leg whenever he kept the ball. It was only a matter of time before he seriously injured himself and, unfortunately, it occurred. Again, he too was cleared to play.

I suspect Daniels is telling the coaching staff and medics/trainers that he can functionally play through the pain. My eyes is telling me that isn't the case. He and Quinn are BS'in everyone, including themselves, by stating Daniels' injury isn't affecting him. I and everyone else saw him pre-injury, and he ain't the same.

I had suspicions he reinjured himself, if he wasn't already injured, versus Pittsburgh last Sunday. Here's the play in particular when I knew for sure he was injured.... The last play of the 3rd quarter when Cam Heyward sacked Daniels. Now, Heyward did get up on Daniels sort of quickly, but I'm rather confident pre-injured Daniels would've recognized it a bit sooner and avoided Heyward. Daniels looked somewhat stiff and slow to react (he's a quick twitch player), and I said to myself, "Something looks off, and I sense his ribs are affecting his movement." But I didn't wanna believe that was the case. I think a couple of Daniels' misses last Sunday was more about him being injured more so than the Steelers' D rushing him into quicker decisions. Thursday night only reaffirmed what I thought last Sunday. A healthy Daniels would've rocked the Eagles, after all those early empty possessions, had he been healthy. I'm confident in saying that much. I also think we would've beaten the Steelers with a healthy Daniels. No one will convince me differently.

The coaching staff blew the game (Thursday night), and Daniels should've been pulled in favor of Mariota.

Re: WTF was that post game thread

I suspect this staff are already considering the history with RG3 and won't risk JD if it look pointless letting him play hurt. He's going to get best part of a weeks reast and treatment before the next game. I don't think they'll take a stupid risk, you do, agree to disagree?

One thing though, it's a rib injury. RG3 was a knee and that's a much more serious injury; he should never have played on it. If JD had done his knee I'd wholeheartedly agree with letting him heal completely before he sees the field again. A rib injury, barring a break, should heal reasonably quickly, especially with reest and treatment.

IMO, the staff took a stupid risk on Thursday night. Whether, it's Daniels knee or ribs, he shouldn't be playing if it's affecting his play..... Which his play is being affected. That is the main point I'm attempting to make. Daniels isn't effective, and he shouldn't be playing. The playbook was being minimized on Thursday based on his effectiveness or ineffectiveness. He should sit until he can effectively function. Period.

I think free agent DJ Reeder CB will be high on our radar after the season

They always struggle against the Steelers. The Steelers are Jackson's kryptonite. This is why I'm not sold on Jackson. He shrinks up when the competition stiffens.

Yeah, I don't think it is the same situation as RGIII at all, due to the different injury as you pointed out but also the fact that it is likely the coaches are making the decision here rather than the owner.

He definitely needs to finish strong. Bo Nix is playing lights out and is his closest competitor at this moment. If Nix continues to ascend, he will pass him.

Personally I’m a lil shocked he’s playing this well

It's sean Payton and a defense that's playing really well. Anything can happen and is happening.

I won't. I'll think he's injured. No offense, but anyone who can't see he's clearly attempting to play through an injury that's affecting his play must have their heads in sand.
