Parkland Shooting

I’m done with the excuses. 20 years of school shootings and the NRA is still in too many pockets in DC. That’s what it boils down to.

Schools can’t afford basic supplies and can’t pay teachers yet the answer is to spend money on arming and training them to shoot their students if they have to?

Please, fucking ridiculous

I have a feeling in some states all of sudden there would be money for schools to buy guns.

Too bad a good guy with a gun wasn’t near by to shoot the gun out of the kid’s hands

I know you are being snarky, but i bet if you walk in that house you would find all kinds of child safety locks throughout. For a gun to be left loaded and unsecure with a toddler in the house is pure negligence on the parents part.

Most of the defense against nanny state laws is that people need to be held accountable for the consequences of their own actions. While the parents will likely never forgive themselves the state has an obligation to punish them as well, and take away their guns.

Just from a common sense perspective, while stand your ground does have some redeeming value in certain, rare cases....do we really want to justify killing someone after getting pushed to the ground?

Re: Parkland Shooting

This is a good development. As i said before, the prosecutors have all the information and if it didnt meet the burden of fear for his life he should be charged.

Boy, if only there was some link between mass shooters and mental instability. If only there was some way we could flag those who have mental issues and a history of verbal and/or violent outbursts so they couldn't legally buy guns?

I’d like to get something on the books for that, some type of restraint. Also raising the age for assault rifles to 21-24 age, and then banning bump stocks.

People complain about millennials(I do, but it’s overblown)...but the following generation is going to be pretty sick. The lack of social skills especially interpersonal communication is dangerous. South Korea has online addiction on the books and is focusing on the destructive nature of a generation looking on their phones 100% of their day. I think the increase in mass shootings is indirectly tied with a generation currently unable to deal with life...if we want to say sure increase funding for mental health...I’m fine with it...but shouldn’t we be dealing with root cause analysis?

My question is this...gun violence, homcides rates are down historically...why has this mass shooting thing popped up? It’s not the gun folks...it’s something deeper. Too simply say...oh mental health...it’s dismissive. What’s the driver? The look at me generation, the participation trophy generation....it’s all related.

Im starting to wonder if the Unabomber wasn’t on to something...Emerson and Theorau were ahead of their time.

Re: Parkland Shooting

I think it really boils down to mental health and the overall stigma surrounding it. Also a lack of services, lack of a system that gives quality coverage to all, too many people that fall through the cracks of society as a result. Having a culture that is obsessed with guns and violence doesn't help.
