Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Giants)

Haynesworth apparently said that from what he's seen we can play football.. but it's definitely not showing in our record and that game.. says that people are going in all different directions and what the team needs is a leader that can get them all working together.

I assume he's referring to coaching deficiencies?

No one really came to play, and it was really disheartening. Zorn looked completely lost and befuddled. JC looked like he'd just survived Bastogne (did you see how glassy-eyed he was at the end of the game?. Our O-line functioned like matadors last night, and it was painful to watch.

This may be the worst overall effort I have seen by our team since I became a fan in 1973.
Yeah, roommate and I were talking about how Zorn was just wandering around the sidelines, quite a few times he wasn't even near the field, but off talking to an assistant or something.

I just hope whoever comes in cleans house and has this team acting like a team. I pray next year the HC has this team playing well and we run up the score on the Giants in both games just to humiliate them, especially on their turf.

We took the stadium over," Brandon Jacobs said. "You know, that's what we do every year here. We come to D.C., half of the stadium is Giants fans.

D.C. Sports Bog - Jacobs: "We took the stadium over"

I didn't throw a punch," Jacobs said, when asked point-blank whether he did. "I got jumped. I got jumped by two guys. I tried to get out of there, but one had me and one was hitting me. But it is what it is. I guess those guys [are teammates], and they worked together."

D.C. Sports Bog - Jacobs: "I'm not scared of anybody"
Dude is delusional; he and another guy are the ones that doubled up on Hall.

Fake FGs and other stuff - NFC East Blog - ESPN

...Here's how Zorn described the play: “It was good defense. That’s what hurt that play. I contemplated going back, after [Tom Coughlin] called timeout, and kicking the field goal. The play was unique enough to where I didn’t think they saw what we were really trying to do and then they smelled it out pretty quickly, we didn’t really have a chance to get it started.”
The man needs firing. At this point, who does Zorn think he's fooling? he might as well just blame it on the thetons.

Jacobs was being pissy because he got stripped by Hall. One of the few plays defensively that the team made gets called back by horrible officiating.

I want to say we haven't played this bad in a while which makes me wonder like I was wondering last night if Allen gave Zorn back his reigns to see what Zorn would do. Honestly it just screamed of Zorn all over it....no game planning, bad play calls, bad timing. I'm waiting to hear something about "execution".

Did the team sleep all week? It's like they never exploited any form of weakness of the Giants; ie their bad secondary. It took me 2 series to figure out they needed to get the ball to Ganther behind the defensive line. How hard is it to pass to a RB beyond the defensive line?

He didn't flop on the ground a single time yesterday did he? We knew what we were getting, I'd like to see his pct of snaps played. He's not the only person that we rotate in and out; I'd rather see Haynesworth take a breather than come up tired and get hurt. Then if they want him to condition differently they can ask it of him.

We rotate players in and out I'm sure, but there's always a camera pointed at him.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Giants)

Honestly I kinda liked the fake field goal, but after the time out was called I figured it wouldn't work. Watching the play develope it still would have worked had we actually had a QB as our holding specialist instead of the punter. I'm not sure who it was but we had on player behind all the Giants players and if the ball was thrown better into the corner of the endzone he would have had a TD. All the Kicker needed to do was roll out more to his left and pass it farther. I think his arm was hit at release though.

In a nutshell trick plays are used by despirate teams making a despirate attempt to win the game. Most HC 's only use them when their down by 1 score and are in a must win situation. Not when they are down by 3 or 4 scores already.

Once the trick play failed, they should have just gone for it. While I may agree with the whole "what's 3 points when you are playing this poorly?" but one of the things that usually work for trick play is the element of surprise, which obviously was gone. Apparently Zorn was absent the day they taught that in coaching school.

So what was the idea behind that retarded play design on the fake FG? Seemed like a pop warner move to me. Seriously, just take your points and try to build on that. Don't bring out a circus formation and get your punter killed.

I don't think Zorn ever completed the prerequesite courses to even enter coaching school.

I'm sorry but he's freakin TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! Haynesworth is as soft as BUTTER. I've never seen a professional football player that can only play one play and then take 4 off.

That was Zorn say F-U to Snyder. Why else would he make that stupid ass call? I thought it was funny and started laughing.
