As for City of God, the Rio favelas don't exactly scream uplifting. To paint it anything differently would be doing a great disservice to the city's realism. The movie did have moments of levity and humor... Much like life, the film showed a balance with the characters' harsh reality. Spoiler: And in the end, didn't Rocket win out? Dumb and Dumber is a must-watch every time it's on TV for me.
I'm more of a sports guy than movie guy. Last thing I saw in the theater was Cars 2 with my son. Before that it was Happy Feet at an iMax about 5 years ago.
