Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
I think the biggest positive that we can take out of the first 3 weeks is that Jim Zorn is without a doubt a NFL caliber Head Coach.
The 2nd biggest is that JC is making the jump from average to above average qb.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
that's why I said "IF" fellas.. IF we can beat dallas and philly in their house ( assuming we can beat them at OUR house, because we have been playing good at home.) Then yeah, at minimum we will go deep into the playoffs, but im looking for the superbowl at that point..

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
Just got back from the game.
Our offense looked good for several drives and JC did too, but other times it wasn't so great. D definitely stepped up towards the end but run D looked bad. Brooks looked a hell of a lot better. Finally, the FedEX wasn't full! I don't get it, we need as much help as we can get, I hope we keep on winning so people show up to the games. A good amount of Cards fans too, which was kinda upsetting.

I like the fact that Zorn beat Ken Wisenhunt (sp) and Co.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
I didn't think our offense was anything special today. It was average. The defesne bends but doesn't break. I thought Devin Thomas made some strides today.

Imagine if we had Malcolm kelly out there in the redzone?? Jim Zorn will get better too, but I think we are in VERY good shape everyone, and im not the type of person who says this every year, but I see something special in this team. skins baby |

We're going to "very hard to beat?" We're actually pretty lucky we're not 1-2 or even 0-3. Two very narrow home wins and a ugly road division loss. Our offense had 105 yards at halftime today outside of the 1st drive we didn't have a 1st down the rest of the half. And this is playing at home with no crowd noise in our ears. I liked some of the execution in the second half, and I'm happy with the way we're progressing, but if you think for one minute we can walk into Philly or Dallas the next few weeks and win playing this way... well, then you my friend are the on who is a little slow.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
offense looks good... i'm assuming the bad run D today was due to fear of the card's WRs, and it was good enough.
i expected to win this game, and i never felt like we wouldn't, so that's a sign that the team's on the right track. despite the penalties, i think devin thomas really made strides. even though his stats don't show it (And the penalties) i saw him a lot today, and he looked like he might be able to play NFL ball. brooks had an awful punt to start the game, but after that he was good, so i'm not sweating that either. however, ARE looked terrible AGAIN. he had a HUGE gaping hole and instead of plowing ahead, he started dancing again - have thrash or betts do it PLEASE, ARE sucks back there. torrence had some good plays, doughty got beat :/ Last edited by That Guy; 09-21-2008 at 09:27 PM. |

Our offense has regularly struggled to get over 20 points, to have a drive in the 4th quarter that held a lead, to make field stretching plays, and to surprise the opposing defense. Today, we did all of that. Were you expecting that fake handoff and pass for first down. Were you expecting the pass to Yoder. Our offense looked special, because of all the things it wasn't. It didn't give up, it didn't turn off and not turn back on. etc. |

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
What impresses me the most right now is that we're winning the games we should win. Sounds simple but it was something we really haven't done in a few years. Now, if we can win 1 of the next 2 games, which realistically should both be losses, we'll be on a completely new level.

Re: Redskins vs. Cardinals game thread
I like Zorn's playcalling at the end of the last two games. He's aggressively called pass plays on third/fourth down to keep the ball on offense to run the clock out. It increases the confidence in both the offense and Campbell, in particular.
Give props to the defense, especially the secondary. Save for that Fitz TD, the corners played a lot of man defense against those Cardinal weapons on the outside. I saw them playing the receivers close to the line, showing a lot of confidence in the safety help. And that Torrance tip to Carlos was actually PI against Breaston, who mauled the CB from behind (watch Breaston's hand come across Leigh's facemask when the ball is underthrown). |
